September 2020 Brides - Covid-19

Justinj, on April 21, 2020 at 1:06 AM Posted in Community Conversations 3 21
Hello everybody!

A whole lot has happened since this whole shut down started. My original date was May 30th 2020 I was really excited and had all my meetings with my planner scheduled. Stadted ordering the last few things I needed. Got most of them a week ago with the May 30th date lol. Regardless I made the decision along with my fiance to change the date to September 26th after talking to my planner and a lot of talking with my fiance. However, he is very positive that our new date won't happen again Smiley sad he says is very unlikely that our guest will travel and feel comfortable etc. I'm still holding up faith and I'm hopeful that everything will start to get better within the next few months. Sorry for the long post I guess I'm just venting Smiley sad

It’s so hard to know right now. We moved our wedding from May to August. Some days I feel confident it will work out. Others I think there is no way it’ll happen in August. It’s a waiting game. I do think it’s too early to do anything just yet, because if I were to postpone or cancel, and then realize that it could have actually taken place, that would feel worse than what I’m feeling right now. We are waiting until mid-June to make any further decisions. Wishing you the best and sending positive vibes that you’ll be good to go by then.

That is so stressful not knowing if your parents would even be able to travel for it. I have definitely had a couple of good cries about all of this. I have realized that even though it sometimes feels like you shouldn’t be sad about something like this when people are suffering, your feelings are valid, and it’s okay to be down! I know the important part is that we are marrying the person we are meant to be with, but when you put so much time and effort into something, it is certainly okay to be worried and sad over it.

I’m trying to stay positive for now! But it is definitely not easy.

Exactly!!!! I just really really pray that this whole thing starts to get better soon! There are some days I feel like it's a possibility and that it may end up being 100 times better and I'm just over thinking things but then I watch the news and is depressing almost. I just hope for the best outcome of this whole situation for everybody! Sending lots of hugs your way❤

I am SUPER nervous because of the COVID-19 and the fact I am supposed to be getting married September 19,2020 in Upstate NY.
I have ALL my vendors booked and deposits down on them. I have my dress & all accessories, my girls have their dresses, FH has his tux.
My dad now has cancer and doesn’t know if he will even be around for the September date- let alone if we have to postpone it( yes, I get I can do a small ceremony but...)....
Hoping that you are good for your date and don’t have to postpone again. I am soooooo sorry you had to to start with! But, if it helps, now those things that you were feeling anxious over getting done- or wanting to do but “not enough time” now you Can do them! Hugs honey! And good luck.

Omg! I hope everything turns out good for you too! This whole virus thing has really ruined a lot of things this year and other complications sure make everything feel heavier. I got my grandfather with a prostate problem and a a diabetes amputation problem, which puts me in the same position as to not knowing what is going to happen and I hate the thought of even postponing again and him not being able to be present 😕 is so stressful 😔

I am September 17, 2020 in New Jersey and I am freaking out. I already warned my maids that we are most likely postponing. I want a clear conscious on my head at my wedding, and a pandemic happening 5 months before that. We have a lot of high risk guests. So I’m so torn to pull the band aid now or wait

I am September 26 in NJ as well! We were in the process of looking for photographers / video and hair&MUA during Feb and March when the virus hit so we haven't booked any of that stuff yet... We have the venue, DJ, my dress and I just feel so behind with everything. We're thinking about postponing to June next year, if it is possible with our venue but they are giving us a little bit of a hard time and saying they are only rescheduling May and June weddings as of now. I'm just so nervous that I won't be able to find all my vendors at an appropriate time because of the 'wait and see' game and feeling the weight of the uncertainty.

I know exactly what you're going through. Our 1st venue made an Instagram post saying they were rescheduling weddings for March all the way through mid May and when I asked if our date was possible to be reschedule they said NO and they sent me a generic email saying that Ebola kills more people than this virus. I had no option but to cancel on them, lucky for us we had only given them $1500 and they worked with us and gave us back half of it. My planner found another venue which is way better and they're very willing to reschedule for next year if needed. I wish you the best of the best!!! Prepare by looking for different venues and pricing and their flexibility etc. Bes of luck! ❤

Wishing you the best girl! I never got my alterations since thats what I should be taking care of right about now 😂. But since I changed my date to September everything just kind of stayed in Stand by. I have everything booked, photos, video, makeup & hair dessert table, marquee letters omg everything and had to reschedule 😔. Only few things I'm missing is my alterations on my dress and my engagement ring which stayed at JCPenney for resizing and won't get it until they open 😔. Wishing you the best planning for the following months hope you get everything booked ❤

    Hi Justinj,

I'm so sorry you're going through this! It's a tough time for everyone, obviously, but wedding planning is supposed to be fun. COVID-19 has put a damper on the good times, for sure.

I'm glad to read that you've found another venue that is more flexible about rescheduling, but I truly hope you won't have to do that (again).

As you can see from these responses, you're not alone! Here are a couple of other discussions with September brides:

Any september brides canceling their wedding?

How are my September brides feeling?

My fingers are crossed for a relatively quick resolution to this pandemic, so you can move forward with your September wedding date as planned. Best of luck! Smiley heart

Thanks so much Alexandra, you're absolutely right. How are things going with you now? My fiance and I kinda just stopped planning for the last few months cause we were so unsure of how things were going to look and were really thinking about moving the wedding to next June. It was just today that we decided that we're keeping it at September 26. Honestly, with everything going on, we are just really excited and ready to get married this year, and to hopefully celebrate with our close loved ones if they're able. We talked to our venue today and they are ok with us having a significantly reduced guest list, so hopefully there wont be trouble with that down the road. I am just starting to reach back out to vendors for photos, make up, hair, and flowers so I am crossing my fingers that everything will go smoothly. I hope that planning is falling into place for you; sending you tons of positivity Smiley heart

Thanks for sharing Justinj! I'm happy to hear you were able to find a different, more accomodating venue - it sounds like it's really for the best. Are you still planning for a September wedding? Best of luck to you with any of the planning you may have! Smiley heart

Aww thanks! I’m so glad to hear your wedding is still on! We are still unsure we can’t postpone until july. We haven’t really been planning because we still haven’t decided if we are okay with cutting the guest list. So we will see!!

I'm getting married in Pennsylvania. I received our venues restrictions yesterday. The only one I'm not happy about it is they can't provide chairs during the ceremony for more than immediate family. They're not enforcing masks and they're not enforcing the no dancing suggestions by the CDC. My invite list is 150 which is under the rule of 250 people for PA. Good luck to everyone!
