September bride desperately needs to lose 60+lbs

FutureMrsG, on February 8, 2016 at 7:11 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 46

Hello fellow brides, and congrats on your big days! So yesterday me and my fiancé snapped some pics and to say the least I was soooo unhappy....I cried later because it was like the point where my eyes were opened and I just felt so huge! Now I've always been bigger and that's nothing new but when we took those simple pics and I looked at them, my heart sank.....I just can't look like this on my wedding day. I don't want to look back at my wedding pics and hate them.in the past I've tried all kinds of diets but never stuck with them and would lose my momentum. Currently I'm about to start the daniel fast and work on my self physically and spiritually. I'm not losing weight for just my wedding but for my health as well. I have PCOS meaning fertility and hormonal issues and I carry the weight mostly in the stomach area. My legs and joints are in pain everyday. I would really love some support, and any tips, that can help!I work 12hr night shifts so I'm always tired when I get off..help!

If anyone else has these problem areas or have trouble losing weight due to PCOS or your job, please leave any help you can offer! I'm also open to being fb buddies to keep up with each others progress! Thanks so much ladies!

First off, you're beautiful!! But I completely understand. My wedding is the weekend after yours and I want to lose 40-50 lbs. We got this girl, we just have to stick with it. Just keep reminding yourself what you're feeling now and how you absolutely can't feel like that on the biggest most happiest day of your life! I know you can do it Smiley smile

If you work the night shift, then try to get your workout in in the afternoon before you head to work. That way you know it's already done. Good luck!

I have PCOS and have managed to loose 45lbs between March and October. I've been trying to loose more since Oct, but with the holidays, I've kind've just maintained.

For me, I'm horrible at working out, so most of my results have come from diet alone. It's helped 1000% that FH is doing this with me. We both track with Myfitnesspal and are eating at a calorie deficit. We drink tons of water, eat lots of fruits and veggies and try to hit macro goals on MFP. The biggest thing really is to just stick with your plan. Once you start seeing results, it should provide you with some motivation to keep going. You got this girl!

    You're gorgeous!

I used MyFitnessPal to track myself before the wedding and it really helped. I can never find the motivation to work out after work either.

Eta: date twin! Im trying to lose 30lbs before then too. I love MyFitnessPal to track calories, exercise, etc. I don't log every day but it helps me stay on track. Small, sustainable steps towards healthy habits will go much further in the long run that any of the fad diets and programs people will push on you. Also, I've always found that working out gives me more energy and helps me sleep better. If you can find a way to do 3-5 workouts a week, put them on a schedule and try to stick to it like any other appointment. I have never regretted a workout afterwards, and I try to remember that beforehand when I'm dreading going to the gym.

I assume that you work 3-4 night shifts a week? Make a sure you get your workouts done on your days off. No excuses. Meal plan and prep so that you have healthy snacks to eat at work. Most people crave unhealthy foods in the wee hours of the night so you need to be prepared. Track your calories with MyFitnessPal.

I find the 30 day shred to be by the far the most effective workout there is. 25 minutes and your done, it's hard work and it hurts the first couple of days but my god the difference when you stick to it

I started on Weight Watchers and was having success but got sick of the app not working properly. Quit that and have been using a $3.00 app on my phone that is kind of a knock-off of Weight Watchers. It's called iTrackBites. Food point values are the same as the Weight Watchers Points Plus system. It has a barcode scanner which is really nice. I do better with this than MyFitnessPal because I like the 49 bonus points you get each week on top of your daily allowance. It allows me to "splurge" a bit every now and then and still stay on track. The key for me is not always feeling like I'm depriving myself. Being able to have 3 large pieces of pizza one night or that big piece of cake is key. Smiley winking I've lost 25 pounds so far and have 10-15 more to go before the wedding. You can do it!

Date triplets lol! @ Cathy and Chrissy! Im in the baltimore area! Thanks everyone I will download my fitness pal! @Katia your exactly right! That's what I was thinking! My days off try and work out. And yes working at night we snack alot but I am currently trying to break that habbit. Finding time to work out at first was more hard I think because I was taking classes as well as working so I was beat. But I'm taking this semester off so there's definitely no room for excuses!!

I agree with Kylie, you are beautiful! Do not let the stress of the wedding make you feel like you have a deadline for health and personal goals of change. You can do this you just need to set your mind to it and work for what you want!

I also ave PCOS and what really worked for me was starting to take birth control. I have always been thin but PCOS had me gaining in my stomach area quite a bit. BC flushed the area out (and made me gain in other areas) so I was able to get my body in shape by regular gym visits. If you have a hard time motivating yourself try to take group classes. I do group yoga, pilates and body shred by Jillian Michaels. It hurts, but you will feel so much better about yourself, it honestly starts to become fun and your joints will thank you! Smiley laugh

ETA: My coworker is doing the daniels fast and her doctor recommended that she avoid fruits for the first couple months because they are so high in sugar. She also said that the biggest thing with eating healthy is not so much what you eat but having healthy portions.

Changing your diet is 75% of the battle. I do not mean cut out all sugars, carbs, sweets, just portion your food out better and stay within a calorie deficit. I agree with getting on My Fitness Pal. It has helped me tremendously and i eat anywhere between **** calories a day. Walking is also great! I have a dog, so it helps both of us.

My friend did a crash diet before her wedding and lost 30lbs in 8 weeks. It was very unhealthy and she has gained back the majority of her weight. Please do not go this route. While you may get results faster, it will come back.....it awlays does. Also, if possible, workout with your FH. Even if it's just an after dinner walk. It's nice to have someone in your corner.

    You can do it!

Keep in mind with losing weight that your dress has to fit! I lost 100 pounds in 4 months a year and a half ago. I ate a very restrictive diet. Nothing but water, mostly vegetables, and small portions of meat. Not a single diet pill and I didn't work out. Nutrition is the key!

The most important thing on a weigh loss journey is to always remember to pick it back up who cares if you ate like crap all day restart that evening had a week that was bad go back at it again keep going back to it never give up!!

One thing I always try to do at work as well is walk on my breaks. Just keep moving throughout the day, to keep myself from getting stiff. I've lost 20 pounds since this point last year, largely from just moving more - I haven't done a great job changing what I eat.

Date twin!!! I'm in the same boat. Would love to lose 60 lbs (or more) by wedding. I started back on Weight Watchers this past week. I work two jobs so time is limited for me, too. Hoping to quit the other job in April. Let's find a way to keep each other accountable since we are Sept 10 brides. Let me know how I can reach you. We can check in. OR I could start a private group on facebook or something. We can do this girls!!!!

Wow, 100 pounds in 4 months. That doesn't sound safe or healthy. The biggest thing is to make it a lifestyle change. Lose it slow and it's more likely to stay off.

ETA: Just read this article last night that was talking about which is more important in weight loss? Diet or exercise? If your primary goal is to shed pounds, then watching what you eat is the key to faster (but keep it safe!) weight loss. i.e. If you eat a candy bar, it would take ~30+ minutes of jogging to burn that off. Much easier and less time-consuming to just not eat that candy bar, right? That being said, thin does not necessarily = healthy. Exercise is key to fitness and health along with a healthy diet. Smiley smile
