September Brides & covid

Demetra, on April 22, 2020 at 2:56 PM Posted in New Jersey Planning 1 7
Hi everyone! I am supposed to get married September 4, 2020 (in New Jersey) and we have been engaged for 2 years and by the time we get married, it will have been a 2.5 year engagement. We are really hoping we won’t have to postpone/cancel because of COVID-19. We are discussing back up plans so that we can still be married on that day whether it be at the court or at our venue. What are you guys doing? Does anyone have any good back up plans they’d be willing to share Smiley smile

I’m low key freaking out each and everyday. My FH just wants to postpone but I’m like torn on it. We would do a small wedding like courthouse wedding and then save the big wedding for later if we do decide to postpone. In a way I feel it’s too close to call, but in another way I feel comfortable postponing knowing it may be better safe than sorry with 120 guests packed in a room.

Hi Alexandra! I’m freaking out too! We are probably going to wait until July to make a final call. We are thinking of maybe having a courthouse ceremony and taking pictures in a nearby park with our family members (if it is safe to do so). If it is safe enough for small gatherings, we’d select a few family members and friends to have dinner with after at a restaurant afterwards. As of our most recent discussion, we wouldn’t move forward with a reception which sucks because they’re so fun! I think we’ll just be happy to be married and close this chapter and begin the next 🙂 I think our family and friends would understand that.

Yes! That sounds like the perfect plan. I had a lot of guest reach out to me already and say they don’t know how comfortable they fell coming in September, so I’m not sure what the best option. I also feel like New Jersey will be really hard to get on its feet and I feel the governor has new guidelines everyday, even with the phases being out by the federal government, Jersey still may be in that phase with no more than 50 people for a gathering. Time will only tell. We will get through this together!!

Same here! Our wedding is September 12th and we will be engaged for a year and 9 months then. We're also thinking of having a small backyard wedding with a few family members as a plan B, then having a larger wedding and reception with our full guest list when it's safe again next year.

Hi Demetra! I think everyone's trying to stay really positive for September, but as you said it's hard to feel sure of anything when the news and guidelines keep changing so quickly!

There's a big thread for all September weddings and Covid-19 concerns you should check out as well, but getting local advice here will definitely be the most valuable!

Our wedding is on September 5th in Maui. We have been engaged for 1.5 years and together for 10 and I know that so many of our guests are looking forward to our wedding since it has been a long time coming. Really conflicted on what to do. Plan B would be to move the wedding to next year altogether. I can't wait to marry my best friend but I would be remiss to say that I wouldn't care if majority of our family and friends were there. Hoping for the best of all of us!
