September Microwedding Covid Concerns?

Kristen, on January 14, 2021 at 3:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

About to book a venue for about 30 people for this coming September and wanted to know if anyone is concerned about covid for an event this small in September? There’s still a lot unknown with COVID obviously but wanted to see how other brides getting married this Fall are feeling. We will try to do as much outdoors as possible but want also to ensure that everyone we want will feel comfortable attending.

I’m in CT and some of the bridal groups I’m a part of online share mixed sentiments.
Let me know your thoughts!

I think that size and timing sounds realistic!

I agree with Amanda! The size and the fact it will be as outdoors as much as possible are appropriate. You will hopefully not have to pivot at all ❤️

I strongly strongly suggest that you check with your venue to see what your states current restrictions are. Coming from someone who signed their contract before this whole Covid thing happened I personally wouldn’t be signing any contracts at this time mostly just due to the restrictions my state has in place. I personally think it sounds great but I would just strongly suggest that you check everything from of you're allowed to have a cake cutting, to past hors d’oeuvres to dancing etc. if none of that matters to you then I’d say go for it.

I'm in CT and would have no problem going to an event like this, though I'm a bit more easygoing than other people in our state so your mileage may vary.

Yes that’s my thought too, we just my have some people that would be there that have newborns and someone planning to conceive. The deposit for the event is really not all that much so it may be worth just putting it down and planning as normal. If we lose it won’t be the end of the world, but at the same time I’d rather not stress about whether or not this wedding will happen for the duration of my engagement. Lol. It’s such a tough call! Sorry, rant over haha

True, CT is definitely on the stricter side so we would have to watch that carefully. And I do have the luxury unlike many others to just book it for next year and avoid the stress. I really feel for those who have solidified their plans prior to COVID! I’ve only been engaged since this past Christmas so it wouldn’t be the end of the world to wait til next year. A small wedding just takes so little time to plan that it would feel like waiting forever haha

I am a September bride as well. Am I concerned? Yes and no. My guest list is much larger than yours and at this time I am not changing any of it. I am addressing that in June, that's when I have to pay off the venue. If things don't look different by then I have two back up plans in place. COVID is still going to be a factor to be considered, obviously, everyone's health and safety is what matters. I have been at home since last March, I have not seen any family and I have not gone back to my home town, I have been very COVID cautious. I am in California. I am being hopeful with the vaccine, and the various precautions in place that we can have our celebration (even if we're all in masks). I learned about 3 months ago that me trying to make decisions based on months from now will only drive you crazy. It also depends on what you are comfortable with. If your state gives you the green light but you're not comfortable with it thats what matters.

Absolutely! It’s much less about regulations and more about how comfortable our guests would be. And great point- best to make a choice and not ruminate on whether or not covid will impact your plans. Best of luck 😊
