Hi ladies! Thought I would drop in and post an update and also see how everyone is doing. I've been off of this forum for about a month for my mental health. I found myself becoming really obsessive with checking daily... sometimes hourly... to see what other September brides were doing about their wedding. I realized this wasn't healthy and I needed a break from it.

A few things have happened since then- my bridal shower and bachelorette both have been cancelled and we're not planning on rescheduling right now with the uncertainty of everything still. With that happening, I've lost a lot of hope about having the wedding I've dreamed about in September. We're in northern VA near DC and things are just not looking up here. My FH and I had a serious talk last night about postponing and reached out to our venue for dates in spring of 2021. We both are not willing to sacrifice all of our hard work by downsizing to make it happen this year. BUT we have decided that if more than 1 or 2 vendors are unable to reschedule, then we may just keep our original date and just have immediate family there to prevent losing a ton of money.

Here's what our alternative plan looks like- we think we might just go ahead and get officially married in his parent's backyard with just our parents and his sisters on July 21st (that's our engagement anniversary). September 26th never really meant anything to us... it's just a date that our venue had available. Then we will still have the big ceremony and reception in the spring. We still want to do a ceremony and renew our vows in front of everyone then. With the extra time to save some money, we are thinking of hiring a videographer which I'm super excited about since we couldn't fit that into our budget before!

Honestly, the past few months I've been so full of anxiety about all of this, but now I really do feel at peace. I don't know how that happened, but I'm thankful to have a clearer mind! I'll try to keep you all in the loop on how rescheduling goes.

Anyways, how are you all doing right now and what are your plans??

Yeah, I can definitely understand that. This area is really struggling to make that first step, it seems. I'll cross my fingers for you!

Thank you! I don't see us having the wedding, and all I want to do is postpone for the safety of our guests. Plus my wedding dress store isn't opened and they contacted me saying alterations take about 12 weeks..so that is also a HUGE issues.

I’m in NOVA too! Our date is 8/9 and we already postponed from 5/30. I 100% do not want to postpone again. It’s been so stressful and I don’t want to go through it again. Our ceremony is at a church so I’ll probably say whoever feels comfortable to come, come and then maybe just not have a reception? Idk, it sucks.

That's definitely a big issue! Hopefully your venue will start to let you postpone soon!

Posting a quick update- Our venue recommended that we go ahead and postpone to next year. We are now having our wedding on May 15th 2021! When we spoke to our venue, they said they don't think they will be able to host any weddings over 50 people this year and we're unwilling to cut our guest list. Ultimately I'm feeling really good about this. We are planning on hiring a videographer with the extra time to save up some more money. We're so thankful that our venue and vendors worked with us. It only took 2 days to reschedule everything!
