Fiancé and I had our first discussion today about how we will decide whether to postpone the wedding we have planned 10/17/20 due to COVID if needed. What are you guys doing to prepare, or are you guys not sweating it?

9/19. We're waiting for now until the picture is a little clearer. But the ceremony is outside and the reception is in a different location. We were already planning a small ceremony with close friends and family there. So if we have to, we'll do the reception next year as a one year celebration instead.

I just can't imagine any amount of progress will be "doing well" enough for the current administration :-/

But I also can't imagine people abiding by those rules while the states around them get back to normalcy. I know at least two Illinois counties are breaking off from the "plan," consequences TBD, but there's no real telling for our area specifically. (Springfield-ish)

Thanks for the insight! Good things to mull over...

You are probably right. I'm trying to stay hopeful though!

I completely agree with you though. Indiana started opening up this month and wants to be completely reopened by July 4. If they don't have a massive surge, then IL will look ridiculous with their plan. I'm not surprised places are already going off from the plan. The more that do it, the less that the administration will be able to control it. I'm hopeful for your area! I'm in the NW suburbs of Chicago. Our region will be the last to open. Best wishes to you!

I live in Illinois but my wedding is supposed to be in August in Wisconsin, so now I am watching both states. I will say that the plan in Illinois is very vague. It is 5 phases, but there are 28 days between each phase rather than the 14 days other states are seeing. People are interpreting it to mean that shops and restaurants won’t begin any kind of soft opening until the end of June. It makes me sad because I work for a small business and that will hurt so many of us if that’s true. I am hoping that the states who have begun their opening do not see a surge in cases so that maybe we can begin opening sooner. Still cautiously hopeful. 🤞

I'm in Illinois! Wedding in Lake County on September 20th with 165 invited. I literally have no idea how to continue planning with the phases the governor put through.

Ours is scheduled for 9/6 in Chicago. We have 100 guests and about half of them are traveling from out of state. Our venue is assuring us that we will be able to stick with our original plan as it is a 450 capacity venue and we are buying it out.

At this point, I feel like postponing the party is best as my fiance's mother is a nurse and has contracted (and recovered from the virus) and is exposed daily.

Our date is September 26th with a little over 200 invited. We are having it on our own private property so as long as our carterer, dj and photographer don't cancel we are continuing as planned. Everything in our area of the state has been moving towards reopening.
