Seriously people it's a self addressed stamped envelope...

Emily, on July 8, 2021 at 10:01 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

Why can't people send rsvp's back? How hard is this? If it's a no, say no even if it's a maybe, shoot a text saying you are trying to work something out but just not sending it is rude. At least mail it to use my stamp. Our rsvp's are due in a week and I have received 6 from the people I already knew were coming. I HATE calling people. It feels like I'm putting you on the spot to come. There are about 10 people that I am unsure of. The rest I either know they are coming or not. So frustrated everytime I get the mail. OK thank you for letting me rant!

As someone who RSVPs almost instantly, I feel your frustration, though it is important to remember that your guests have lives of their own and RSVPing to your wedding isn't likely to be their top priority.

If you are one week out, I would suggest sending a text message to the guests you are waiting on - something to the effect of:

    "Hi [Name]

Just wanted to remind you that we require RSVPs back for our wedding by [DATE] and that those who do not respond by this date will be assumed to not be attending the wedding.

If you can please make sure to RSVP by [date] so we can confirm final numbers with our vendors.

    Many thanks"

You are not alone with your feelings on this one! Makes zero sense why they cannot be sent somewhat timely. Good luck. I'm patiently waiting for ours to be sent back., I've only received 25 or so back with over 80 invites sent out 3 weeks ago. Dreading the RSVP deadline date.

The majority of people send in RSVPs on or near the due date. Once the due date has passed, you can reach out to those who haven't responded yet.

I thought not RSVP-ing was a midwest thing but nope, it is all over. I understand your frustration. Rant away!

So frustrating! My FH and I are trying to think of an easier way to have people RSVP other than sending it by mail... because apparently that's too difficult... ugh!! rant away girl!

I am one of those people who typically RSVP right away, so understand the frustration. We had a lot of people just wait and wait to officially RSVP even when they had already made a decision. So incredibly frustrating!

How far in advance of your wedding date is your RSVP date and how much time did you give yourself before your head count is due? Some couples request RSVPs way too soon (any more than 4-6 weeks before is too far in advance), so I think that deters people, and some people also don't give themselves enough time between the RSVP deadline and the headcount due to collect stragglers (they'll make the deadline the same day they need final numbers and stress out, but if you give yourself a buffer of at least a few days to collect stragglers you'll be fine). Regardless it usually works out in the end but it sure is annoying!

Very frustrating! This is why we chose online rsvp only and even that is slow to come in. You’ll have to send a text out a week before. Don’t take it personal though. People literally forget and some people like immediate family and best friends automatically assume you rsvp’d them yourself.
