Servers

Caitlin, on October 8, 2022 at 5:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
I am so frustrated because the caterers in my area that I am allowed to use at my venue are not providing servers unless you meet the minimum guest count. My guest count is only 95 and these caterers are requiring 125! Has anyone else run into this problem? What did you do? I feel like such an idiot if I’m constantly asking the venue owner and I don’t want to annoy them (I have major anxiety). Has anyone ever heard of someone that will just correspond with the venue and caterer? Would this be a job for a wedding planner? I’m just so stressed and feel like I have so much pressure to make it as nice as possible

Your venue would know professional servers/ bartenders who have their food and beverage card. You can also hire non-agency people on thumbtack. It sounds like your catering company doesn't want to put people on the payroll. Ps, your guest list may change due to declines, but you have lots of time time yet o figure this out.

Are the servers included in the price at 125? if so just order food for 125 and let folks take home boxes to go, and then you'll have servers...depending on your food/cost, should only add 400 bucks or so, which is probably what youd pay for an outside service.

A wedding planner would take care of such matters. I'm not sure if there are planners or coordinators who have a reduced price if many of the major vendors have already been selected. But Nick's solution sounds like a way to at least avoid having to find your own servers. The drawback is that you may have 80 people accept the RSVP and then have 45 extra servings. You would have to figure out whether you had to have seating for 125 or just the 80 to 95 you expect.

I think it's perfectly OK to ask the venue owner for suggestions. I would think they have the contacts you would need. Good luck sorting it out!
