Serving alcohol in these cool boats??

Maria, on February 22, 2017 at 8:26 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 21

We are having a intimate beach wedding, very casual. Our venue allows outside alcohol to be brought in and I was wondering what you guys thought of this boat idea for serving the alcohol? The guests we have coming aren't huge drinkers so I just don't think it's necessary to have a full bar with servers. Or maybe at least drinks such as waters and lemonades? We'll be having around 40-50 guests

Definitely have a bartender so they can control consumption and cut people off if necessary.

Is your venue going to allow this without a licensed bartender there to serve the drinks? That sounds like a liability. I'd check with them.

You'll need to hire a bartender.

My friend did that! I was so cute. They're whole wedding was DIY and it worked out great

@APD yes I did double check with them, they said a lot of weddings at this particular venue serve the alcohol similar to this way

Thanks! Our wedding is A LOT of diy, and I really do not anticipate the people that I know are coming to be drinking much at all

I'm doing something similar at my yacht club wedding. I say as long as the venue is fine with it go for it! Super cute!

I think it's adorable, and I've seen it many times. I would still have a bartender, honestly.

I think that's awesome!!! I had a friend that did something similar with barrels and it worked out well, she had someone there to keep an eye on if things ran low and if your friends aren't huge drinkers I would assume they are responsible enough to know their limits.

I think it would be some peace of mind with a bartender, just in case. But it is definitely cute!

Yes call them booze canoes! I don't think you need a bartender if they're basically only needed to open beer bottles? If actual liquor yes, just beer no.

Haha I'm doing this! My wedding is in the mountains in a barn venue and is a mountain/woods/forest/camping theme - we're filling two giant canoes with alcohol and calling them "booze canoes" Smiley smile

    I love it!

Someone did this last year, and posted about it in her BAM. Can't remember her username.

My friend did this for bottled beer. They did have a bartender for liquor drinks. But if you're just doing beer, wine, I like this set up!

Use the boat! It's adorable! My mom did this for my brother's rehearsal dinner. It was the boat my dad proposed to my mom in and that my brother took his now wife out in just before he proposed. He said she'd have knocked the ring in the water freaking out in celebration had he done it on the boat!
