Setting Up Reception Yourself

Have any brides out there set up & decorated the reception themselves or planning to? I'm having the ceremony & reception in the same room & plan on having everything set up the morning of, possibly have guests already seated at their tables & have the ceremony on the dance floor....

Have any brides out there set up & decorated the reception themselves or planning to? I'm having the ceremony & reception in the same room & plan on having everything set up the morning of, possibly have guests already seated at their tables & have the ceremony on the dance floor. I'm also making all the centerpieces and decorations myself. Anyone done this or plan on doing something similar?

(side note: The venue offered to do a room flip for us but the fee is ridiculous & requires rental of a separate area for another preposterous fee.)

Nice. we have venue access at 1200 the day of Smiley xd BUT the tables/chairs will already be set up. venue itself is stunning, just need to put down table linens, flatware, napkins, centerpieces & have the DJ & dance floor set up. ceremony starts at 5pm. good luck! & congrats Smiley heart

I'm decorating the church myself. Tulle & Flowers (which I spray painted) along with floating candles in glass cylinders. Simple yet...time consuming. Oh well ya gotta pay one way or another.

We’re having our ceremony (cocktail hour and first dance) at one venue and our reception dinner at another. Our ceremony venue is amazing! My brother and my fiancé brother will be doing set up (3 cocktail rounds, 2 signs, and the drinks. My fiancé will be going early to make sure everything is setup. The reception venue will set up the tables for us, we just have to drop off our stuff the night before. I will most likely ask my brother to send me pictures to make sure they do it correctly.

I would make sure you get extra help! even if you think you can do it, it feels so much better to have everything finished in plenty of time! some event companies hire out setup staff for $15-$25/hr, or somewhere around there. Totally with a couple extra hundred dollars on your wedding day to not be rushed! There's nothing worse than walking down the isle late on your wedding day!
