So we are newly engaged and in early planning. I honestly always thought about an evening wedding 5 pm or so with a dinner reception. I never even considered other times of day for us honestly. And my FH, I guess, was thinking the opposite, he was thinking a noon wedding. He apparently has never even been to an evening wedding. I was really suprised! I know weddings can happen at many different times of day but I personally think evening weddings are the most common. My FH disagrees and thinks mid-day weddings are the most common. What do you all think??? What time of day if your wedding going to be? What time of day do you think is the "most common"??
This is a just for fun convo. Curious what y'all think!!

I don’t think I’ve ever been to a wedding that began before 3pm. And with those early ones, they are usually at a church with a gap of about an hour or 2 until the cocktail hour and reception begins.

Evening! Mine will be a 5pm ceremony with cocktail hour/reception from 6pm-11pm. Most weddings I have been to have ceremony start times ranging from 2pm-5pm; all with evening receptions.

I think a lot depends on the culture. A lot of more religious persons hold earlier weddings so there's less expectations of alcohol and you can get the church easier, but the recent shift away from churches has made later more party centered events.
I'll be doing an afternoon wedding.

I’ve mostly been to evening weddings! However, I think I went to one where the ceremony was probably 12/2pm and the reception didn’t start until dinner time since they did pics in between.

Evening definitely! I've never been to a mid day wedding. I've been to weddings where they start in the afternoon maybe 2 or 3 but they still go until 10 or 11.

Mine will be in the evening and I think evening weddings are more common. I would love to have a slightly earlier wedding but due to the heat and it being outside I would prefer an evening.

Evening is def6more coming these days. O ly exception is for religious reasons. My ceremony starts at 4pm and we'll start getting ready at 830 for a 2pm first look. So definitely factor in getting ready time when you decide on a ceremony time. I was shocked when hair and makeup said they want to start at 830, but I guess it makes sense in order to get through all 5 of us.

I feel like evenings would be more common but my ceremony is daytime on a Sunday. It's cheaper for us. We had the option to do it at night but being that it's on a Sunday, we didn't want to do that because of people who have work the next day.

I think I'm having my ceremony at 2:30 or 3:00 and then cocktail hour from 3:30ish-4:30ish and then dinner around 5-5:15. I think a lot of this depends on what season you're getting married in too. I want to have an earlier ceremony so I can get pictures in before it gets dark. If you're having a summer wedding, it doesn't get dark until like 8:45. In winter or fall, it can start to get dark around 4:30.

Most of the weddings I went to were evening weddings. I went to one at 3. I think that was the earliest. Mine is at 6.

I haven't been to a large amount of weddings (maybe 8-10) but they have all been mid-day, noon - 2 pm ceremonies. Mine will be from 2 pm - 8:30 pm

I have even heard of morning weddings! I think you need to look at the level of formality you want. Morning and afternoon weddings are typically a little more casual, many are outdoors. Cost is also a factor, when your reception is near a meal time, you will spend more on food. If you are providing alcohol, you will probably spend more at night than during the day.

I think it can really go either way. Day weddings are becoming more popular because they’re often significantly cheaper still. I know I’m considering a day wedding because I can save that money and then have a rocking after party at a bar or something after if people still want to party into the evening.

Most of the weddings I’ve been invited to were 3pm or later. We chose 6pm ish because we want to avoid midday sun and heat (we’ll be outside) and get good sunset photos. I suggested sunrise (around 7 am in September where we want to get married), but my mom says no one will come- I told her fine by me lol, then I started thinking about getting ready and decorating before. I do think a morning wedding with a brunch reception would be fun.

This was why we decided on a 4pm wedding. Also, our wedding is outdoors so it will be cooler. Additionally, it gave our guests more time to get there if they had to work that day or were working half a shift (lots of medical professionals as guests).
