Several month slump?

Mrsc2Be, on May 14, 2019 at 2:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 21
We have about 9 more months to the wedding, and all the big things are done. There are some details that I’m waiting on others for (bridesmaid dresses, tux rentals, etc). Did anyone else reach a point where they felt like they were in a slump? I feel like there’s nothing for us to work on right now. 🤷‍♀️

I'm right there with you. Do you have any DIY projects that you can work on? That's been my latest obsession.

I felt like between 9 months and 5 months was a slump! It picked up around 5 months a little, and by 3 months things were suddenly hectic and rushed.

I’d recommend just making detailed lists of everything that has to get done and when you’re going to do it. That’s the best use of “slump time” I think. And spend some quality time with your FS! We are 19 days away and have no time or energy to go out and do anything together at this point, and haven’t for the past couple months!

I went through a bit of a slump as well (for about 2 months) when I had already completed most of the big tasks. That was when I was sbout 8 months out, until 6 months out. Now I'm 5.5 months out and have a bunch of little tasks that I need to start back up with. Don't worry, you'll get out of this slump, but enjoy it because things will pick up soon enough (trust me)!!

Yeah. 9 months out is definitely around the time the slump hits. I took that time to research DIY projects or other ways to save money. I'm about 5 months out and it's picked back up again. The drama has started over the guest list and I realized I didn't have all my outfit ready, I wanted to change catering, hadn't finished DIY projects, etc. I'm starting to get back in the hustle and bustle (pun intended) of it again.

I’m not very crafty, so I’m not really DIYing. I envy those who can! 🤗

I definitely got into a slump after my major vendors were booked. It was too early to start nailing down small details with my venue coordinator so there was kind of a lull in planning. Enjoy it! I've got 3.5 months left and I'm still working on DIY projects, accessories for myself, small details at the reception. I'm going to reach out to my coordinator at the 3 month mark to nail down the catering, officiant, bartender.

That’s a great idea - spending time together. We’re going to do a few short trips for graduations and other weddings this summer, so there will be a few nice getaways. 😊

I'm a Feb 2020 bride and feel the same way! I told FH last night that we needed to start researching all of our music for the ceremony & dances to get that out of the way. My friend got married last month, and they were working on song choices right up until the wedding so that was something I figured I could go ahead and get taken care of!

I feel the same, also in Feb. I feel like things are dragging and I wish I could get everything done in 1 weekend and then be done!

I was in a slump for months 8 & 9, even a little bit of 7... I’m now under 5 mos & things are definitely picking up; cake tasting, decorations, weekly dance classes - basically every week there is something else. Tomorrow I’m meeting up w/ my friend during my lunch to buy chalkboard (she is doing the signs for me - as I’m not good @ that kind of stuff), then tomorrow night we have our 2nd cake tasting appt., yesterday we had our weekly dance lesson - & I’m sure the weekend will bring something wedding related.

I hit this slump towards the end of last year. We'd been engaged since last February and also planned/completed all of the "big ticket" items. I took a break from wedding planning during the holidays and into the new year and really began to pick things back up around mid-February. Now we're just 4 and a half short months away from our wedding!

Yes! We got engaged October 2018 and we had the BIG things (cake, dress, venue, church, caterer, dj) done by February. But, it has given me some breathing time and now we are just focused on paying everything off. But, this month I have my bridal shower and then shopping for table decor. So we are about to be busy again.

YES this is totally normal! There are only so many things you can do in the first few months and then it slows down a LOT. There were multiple periods of "slumps" for me because there are things you don't wanna do too soon! You are totally fine! Especially if you have the big things done!

I definitely hit a slump around the 9 month mark. I started booking all my vendors early on and hit a point where there was nothing left to do. Now we're at the 5 month mark and things are slowly picking back up. There's only 1 vendor left to book and a slew of small details to take care of in addition to having our invitations designed and created so we can get them mailed out by August.

I did! I booked most of our vendors by month two of planning since it is a destination wedding and during wedding season/a holiday week. For a few months, it was too early to worry about something. One thing you can do is get organized! I made a spreadsheet of all my guests information, make a list of things you need to purchase, things to do, etc. Use this time to make sure you miss nothing when you are busy running around!
