As for me, my DH proposed on Christmas Eve in 2016. The proposal itself was a complete surprise. I thought it would happen sometime later in 2017 based on conversations we had. On the day he proposed he took me to one of my favorite places in Napa for lunch then we went to a Christmas Eve service at the church we later got married in. Afterwards we stopped in one of the beautiful neighborhoods known for their Christmas lights and walked around looking at the lights. It was there on the way back to the car that he "dropped" his keys and ended up on one knee. I thought he was having trouble getting up so I kept pulling him but he wouldn't budge. That was when I saw him pull out the ring box. I was very surprised!

All of your stories are making me cry! They're so beautiful Smiley heart Smiley cry

It was supposed to pour the entire day on August 4th. FH had planned a special date night to celebrate the new house we moved into together (a rental, but we were still excited!), but expressed that plans may have to change due to the weather (all I knew was that we were doing something outside). Well, around 3pm the rain cleared and the sun came out and the weather was perfect. Around sunset, FH and I started driving to our secret date location. My mom passed a little less than a year prior at the time, and as we were headed in the direction of the cemetery she is resting in, I asked if we could stop in and visit her if it was on the way. He said we could, and we drove there. As we were visiting, he began to say such sweet things about how much he loves me and how strong our love is and how he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. He got down on one knee and pulled out his great grandmother's engagement ring and I was so baffled that I could hardly speak! All I could do was fall into his arms and cry. I kept saying "I don't believe you!" and eventually he just goes "...is that a yes?". All I could do was nod. Then, after we got up (I literally fell onto him) he turned me around and said "wave hi to my aunt! Shes hiding in the trees taking pictures!" And there she was! Afterwords, we went to a nearby sunflower farm to take pictures together at sunset by the huge field of flowers. I am not easily surprised, but he succeeded! It could not have been more perfect Smiley heart

He later informed me that he went and asked my grandfather for my hand in marriage as he was on his death bed (he passed just a few months prior- it was not an easy year for my family). It clicked then, because when we had visited at another point my grandfather shook his hand and said "it would be an honor to have you as a grandson".

I can't even fathom how lucky I am to have him.

Right after he asked:Share your proposal story! 1

December 24th 2014 my fiancé got a robot in the mail. He was so excited about it and kept talking about it. Well I didn't know at the time that it was part of my proposal. He ordered my ring and this robot. He put the ring box in the robots hand and controlled it to me and dropped it in front of me and on the box it said "will you marry me?". Honestly I thought it was the cutest thing ever

He woke me up, and said “I think we should get married”. It was the perfect way for him to do it. He said he felt like that was the right moment, and we are going to pick out a ring this weekend on our four year anniversary (of dating)!

My fiancé asked me to marry him on October 19, 2018. We were getting some fall pictures made and he asked me right at the end of our session. He had a sign that said “Will you marry me” that he had propped up on my fourwheeler (we took pictures with our fourwheelers). They blindfolded me and then when I took it off, he was down on one knee and told me to read the sign and asked will you marry me! I didn’t even give him time to say “Will you marry me”, I just said yes!

My fiancé proposed to me on February 18, 2017. Valentines Day was on a weekday that year and I am in college full time and he works full time so we only see each other Thursday-Sunday, so we celebrated Valentines Day the Saturday after. That morning and afternoon right before he proposed, I kept thinking to myself "he's going to propose tonight." The other part of me was thinking "no don't think like that, he's not going to propose to you tonight, you're not close enough to being done with college." At that point in time we'd been together about 3 1/2 years and we had been talking about one day getting married but it was important that I graduated college first, so that's why I kept telling myself it was too soon for him to propose. By that evening I was frustrated with myself for thinking such a crazy thought that he would propose to me that night, and I was frustrated because he picked me up later than I wanted him to. When he picked me up he told me his Valentines present to me hadn't gotten here yet, that it was in the mail. I was dissapointed but I tried not to show it because I didn't want to be rude. I was even more dissapointed when the night went on like it normally does, because I wanted so bad for him to propose but I knew I had to be patient. I got over it quickly and dismissed the thought of him even proposing that night. During dinner I noticed he kept acting different and I kept catching him looking over at me and smiling and looking over my head. Dinner went on like normal and then we walked back to his car (he likes to park away from people because it's easier to get in and out). Instead of getting in the car he stopped and leaned against the car on the passenger side. I asked if he wanted me to get in the car and he said no, that he was enjoying the night. About a minute later, he tells me he actually did get me something for Valentines Day, but it was a surprise and I had to turn around and close my eyes. I did what he said, and in my head I was telling myself not to get my hopes up, that he wasn't proposing. As we walked away from the car, another car came into the parking lot so he stepped back and waited for them to leave. Then he told me once again "turn around and close your eyes." I did what he said, expecting him to put a necklace on me. He told me "ok turn around now," and I opened my eyes and turned around to find him down on one knee with a ring in his hand. I was in shock because I really didn't think he'd propose so soon so all I managed to get out was "really?" As I was grinning with excitement. He smiled at me and said "yes" then he said "hey. will you marry me?" This time I said yes. Copper River will always be a special place for me, and I love the fact that he did it privately with no one else around, because I don't like being the center of attention.

We got engaged February 3, 2018 at Seven Springs ski resort, about an hour outside of our hometown, Pittsburgh, PA. My fiancé has been skiing since he was 12, and it's a big part of his life. He taught me to ski a few years ago, and I am far from the best, but I manage pretty well, and I always have a ton of fun. For some reason, on this particular day I chose snowboarding. So, naturally, as anyone could probably guess, I spent the day falling all over the place. Once I had enough, I decided I needed a break, so we headed to the lodge for some coffee and snacks, where I proceeded to spill chilli on my white ski pants🤣 At this point I had about given up on the day, and told my fiancé that he might have a better time if he hit the advanced slopes without me. I should have realized something was going on when his best friend jumped into the conversation and convinced me to get on the ski lift. I was actually so relieved I got off the ski lift without falling, and distracted by the natural spring on top of the mountain, that I didn't even realize what was happening. I didn't even take off my helmet! So, after 5 and a half years of dating, a slightly bruised tailbone, a couple chili stains, (and a small buzz from the kahlua I had the bartender put in my coffee back at the lodge), I said, yes! It was the most unexpected beautiful twist to the day. We always have lovely, awkward adventures, and I couldn't imagine having them with anyone else.

My fiance' proposed on December 25 , 2017 at 12:05 am. He had already told five of kids about his plan. They all knew and were so excirted! So after the kids and grand kids open their gifts and he brought out all of my gifts. So after I open all of them and started to clean up, I turned around and he was telling me how happy I made him. Of course, I was blushing and laughing and then he pulled out the ring and popped the question. My kids answered for me and all I could do is laugh and stick out my finger and said "Yes I Will". I have been waiting for this my whole life. I'm almost 50 years old and he's almost 54 years old. He is my reason for smiling every day.

Being proposed to was not a surprise, we in fact had already booked our wedding venue prior to the official proposal, but how the proposal happened was definitely a surprise; one that my fiancé spent months preparing unbeknownst to me.
I love crossword puzzles and my fiancé has never done them. In October or so he got us signed up for the local weekend newspaper saying he wanted to learn how to do them so we could do them together every weekend.
In early March he started taking about going out to breakfast. He said maybe it’d be nice to get food at a nice place but get it to go and have breakfast in bed. Sure enough the next Sunday he went and picked us up breakfast in bed. We sat in bed and did the crossword. He pointed out that there was an extra mini crossword in the paper! We started doing it and I realized all the answers were about the two of us, like the names of our pets and things we like to do. The last questions were answered with “ Will you marry me” and the answer “ yes”. Then he got down on one knee and presented the ring!
It turns out he had spent months getting crosswords to be our weekend tradition so I wouldn’t think it weird to do the crossword with him, and making this proposal crossword with the help of his grandparents. He went to the newspaper and worked it out with them to get them to put the extra crossword in. Later we got a full front page story about our proposal in the paper. Did I mention it is a small town?
We are getting married this summer!

My fiance went to jail for 30 days. The day after he got out July 19 2018 he got down on 1 knee and said he never wanted to be apart again. He was always against marriage so this took me by surprise. I said yes it was a shock to all our family. We have been together for 8 and a half years we will be getting married on our 10th anniversary.

My FH proposed on August 20th, 2016... I know, it was a while back but it’s finally happening. I’m a student doctor and I go to med school out of the country, so for our 3rd anniversary I was abroad and I returned a few days before we sail out for our anniversary cruise. On that day he took me to the airport, right in front of the pier where our cruise was supposed to leave... We went to the Air Traffic Control Tower and we took a video from the tower overlooking the cruise, like waving goodbye. At that time and aircraft towed banner was taking off with the best surprise ever: “Will you marry me, Gabe Smiley heart ” And when I looked behind me he was there on one knee with my ring... I started crying and of course I said yes! Everyone was screaming and celebrating at the ATC Tower and at the airport too (we’re an airport couple). And it was the most wonderful day, and the most wonderful cruise I’ve had...

My Fiance proposed on January 2nd, 2019. We have been living in separate states (me in Alaska and him in Oregon) for almost 2 years. We had decided to get married in November. We started looking for venues, food, etc because ultimately, we just wanted to be married. I was able to go to Oregon for New Years for 2 weeks, and I figured he was going to propose. For 2 weeks I was sitting there, waiting, thinking "This is it!". The entire time, he planned romantic dates and really played it out. It finally got to the 2nd, and we were just coming back from dinner with friends. We were cuddling on the couch watching his favorite movie. We were talking about our love story. How we met, when we knew we were in love with one another. We talked about all of the struggles we had been through in those 2 years apart and how we, as a couple, could overcome everything. He kissed my forehead and said "I could kiss you forever". I said "me too", and then he asked. We were just sitting there and I was so excited. It was very "us". No hidden cameras, just us in private where we got to enjoy the moment together.
