How many of you shared? How many of you didn't? Why or why not?

We waited until the next day, as we had gotten engaged just before midnight on NYE, and wanted to call a few people.

That said, there was video and everything, so once we changed our FB status, our friends posted the video.

We shared, but not right away. We waited until after our closest friends & family knew first.

Okay. I chose to not share my news at all on social media.

No we didn’t share. I’d prefer to tell people in person and by the time we got to everyone.. well those who needed to know, knew Smiley smile

After that, I didn't share much.

I've seen what happens when people talk about wedding planning on social media.

I agree with this. I'm not a big social media sharer.

Oh wow that's cute. I normally see the bride being the first one to share.

Yes, he specifically wanted to announce it so I let him have his moment. I think it was cute that he wanted to announce it!

We waited about 2-3 weeks before posting it. We told some immediate family and then just kept it to ourselves for a bit!

We kept it off social media until we told everyone that we wanted to personally tell, and then I put a post on my social media (my fiance does not use social media). Otherwise, I keep pretty much all wedding-related things offline.

Not at first, because he proposed a day after my birthday and we were going to be visiting my parents the next week. We told his parents the night before we left but we asked them to keep it between ourselves until we told my parents. I have a rough relationship with my parents and if they found out over the phone or through social media they would have thrown a fit...Long story. We told them at lunch after we landed and then allowed everyone to spread the news. We announced it later that day on our own social media though!

We shared the moment on social media.
For my birthday, I like to go out of town and be away from everyone (except my fiance). Last year he took me to a hotel on the beach that was over 2 hours away from where we lived. I was snapchatting the day away. When he proposed, I was SHOCKED, I did not see it coming (at first I thought it was a joke, I kept saying "are you serious" while he was proposing). Someone offered to take a picture of us and I didn't like it, so we took a selfie and posted it on fb and snapchat. Way easier than telling everyone one for one.

I waited about a week and then posted it on my Instagram, which is private.
