She cut my wedding dress smells like smoke.

CountryBride, on December 3, 2020 at 3:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

This is a rant , I love my dress, One of my so called friends who I was going to ask to be in my bridal party, Had no place to go with her 2 girls so I let her stay with us.rent free so she could get her life together. she is the gal in the picture with me in my wedding dress. I left my dress in her room so my fiancé wouldn't be tempted to look. she took use of my sons room. With strict instructions to not smoke in the house. I am highly sensitive to tobacco and weed smoke. So she left we had to have her evicted due to her neglecting her kids and hitting on my fiancé. my fiance never gave in to her advances but he told me that she was flirting and it made him uncomfortable. so she is gone thank gosh. I was cleaning up her room and it smelled like smoke. I was fuming I had bought a garment bag with my dress. and thought it would protect it. nope and I was looking at my dress and she had cut some of the buttons off. Who freaking does this. can I get my buttons back on? and how do you get cigarettes' smoke out of a dress. I am in tears my beautiful 3,000 dress that I got on sale is ruined. the fabrics is lace and tulle. do I have a right to be mad?

Yes, but you probably should have moved the dress elsewhere once there were issues

In so sorry, Love. Anyway it's too late and you must look to have the dress altered to fix her damage.

Omgggg I am so sorry that she did this to you, especially after you helped her out and allowed her to live with you. Can you take it to a seamstress and ask if they can sew the buttons back on maybe?

Yes you should be mad. Why would her behavior be acceptable? If the dress is in a garment bag, keep it in your own closet. A local seamstress can repair the buttons and a dry cleaner can remove the smoke smell.

Guys aren't that interested in peeking at the dress beforehand and even if they do see it, it looks different on the hanger than you and they won't remember what it looks like.

That is horrible! And it sounds like you really don’t know your friend at all or she is going through a mental illness episode and should seek help immediately. I would take the dress in and see what they can do!! I hope they can get it back to perfect!

😱 What a nightmare! I hope you cut her off from your life. Poor kids of hers though.... If it’s just the buttons, it’s an easy fix. As for the smoke, you can bring the dress to the cleaner. Check on reviews first. I must say, your fiancé is doing w great job resisting the seduction and told you about it ❤️

Seamstress and cleaner - between them there’s an excellent chance your dress can be fixed so it’s good as new.
