She wore a white dress

Laura, on November 10, 2019 at 10:55 AM Posted in Married Life 0 25
My new mother in law wore a white dress (with a pattern of occasional black flowers) to our wedding yesterday.
For someone so concerned with etiquette, traditions and being proper, how could she not know this basic rule?!
i didn’t have time to be mad about it yesterday, but in the quiet as we wait for in the hotel for our boarding timer on our cruise, it’s bugging me. How dare she?
Everything else was near perfect, the temperature was perfect, we had only a couple no-shows. Flowers were perfect. I married the love if my life on a gorgeous beach in what the photographer described as perfect “gorgeous, perfect” light. My long divorced, hadn’t seen each other in almost 15 years parents, talked and got along. I couldn’t have asked for much more-except maybe less wind!

😮 Who does that?! Shame on her. But thankfully it didn’t ruin your day and it sounds like you were able to ignore it and focus on the happiness of the day and you two (adorable pic!). Enjoy your cruise, Happy Honeymooners, and we’ll see you when you get back.

She does that, apparently. They did give us a nice check; I guess everything has it’s price.
Thanks, my friend managed to get me with my eyes open for once!
On our way to the port now, then honeymoon time! This has been so last minute stressful and exhausting I NEED a week to relax!

I know it's hard but don't let it bother you too much. I'm sure some of your wedding guests whispered about her and she made herself look bad. Just remember all the positives about your special day Smiley smile

You looked beautiful, and all she did was make herself look foolish to everyone else. Ask your photographer or a friend to tint her dress a different color in Photoshop, if seeing the white dress bothers you in pictures. Enjoy your honeymoon!

Congratulations on your special day! And I am sorry that your mother in law did that to you. I will never understand why people wear white to weddings.

Congratulations on your wedding!!!!! In retrospect she made a spectacle of yourself and since you didn't make a scene - you are the classy gracious person...
Do you have pictures of her and the dress???

I never even knew this was a thing until this site. I personally wouldn't have cared as our wedding day was too perfect to be worried about someone else's clothing.

No, it’s not worth changing it. That’d let her know it bothered me and then she’d win. Ha.

I do, but I wouldn’t post pics of someone without their permission, which I am certainly not asking her for! If I could figure out how to crop it and just show the dress, I would.

They wear white to make a spectacle of themselves, as someone else said. To draw attention to them and away from the bride. It’s not so passive-aggressive nonsense.
