Shedding for the wedding.

Alyssa, on December 28, 2019 at 9:54 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 34
Hi All!
My name is Alyssa, and I am getting married this coming October. I am very self conscious, and would like to get healthier and fit before the big day. What is everyone doing to achieve their goals?

I'm using Noom and like the app.

I am also going to the gym and have a trainer there twice a week which holds me accountable to actually going and pushing myself as well.

I was thinking about noom. You are liking it? I just purchased one of those cubii ellipticals. That is something I can definitely do at home with my demanding schedule, and I think it is a great step considering I am out of shape

Yeah noom is great... it's interactive and teaches about nutrition and health which I find awesome. I've lost ten pounds while using it!

Last year I lost 65lbs in 3 months by eatting only protein and veggies and sticking to a sticky 1200 calorie a day diet

Being diabetic I have to do low carb, and that has caused the weight to fly off. No soda as well - I stole a sip of my FH's and nearly gagged at the taste. Way too sweet for me now. I also had some fruit juice earlier and wasn't a fan of the sweetness. Think of it as a lifestyle change, not a diet. That'll help you stick to it.

I’m not trying to lose weight, but I am trying to tone muscle or at least build it. My job requires me to sit a lot, and so much that (believe it or not in my early 30s) I have tendinitis on one of my knees from walking too much one day during a vacation earlier this year. I went from 1000 steps at work to 30k. I’ve been running twice a week and doing some minor weights at home. I’m trying to move more at the office to help build muscle before the wedding. Wouldn’t want to be in pain standing during the ceremony!

At my office we do hourly exercises. So on the hour we get up and do like 25 squats or lunges, bicep curls, etc. Each hour is just 25 reps of 1 thing and something different each time. We keep 5 lb weights in our desk drawers. It doesnt seem like much but at the end of the day you've gotten in some exercise and it's made a difference for the people that wouldnt exercise at all.
Even if you just get a couple people to do it with you it's fun and keeps you accountable.

Keep it clean and low carb! I’ve lost close to 70 pounds. I worked out in the beginning but haven’t in a while. I slacked off majorly during the holidays but once the new year hits I’ll be going back to clean, low carb, and limit dairy (my body likes this the best) and start working out. I have about 20ish pounds left to lose!

This is such a smart idea! I sit 12 hours a day 3 days a week. I have zero stamina for nothing. And I'm in my early 20's.

👏👏 Goos Job! You look great! How does this much weight loss do with your wedding dress?! I don't need to lose much about 30lbs but I'm short so my size changes dramatically.

Thank you!! I guess we’ll find out lol I ordered my dress on Black Friday so there should only be a 15-20 pound difference or so if things go as planned...I lost most of the weight before I even met my fiancé I’ve been going up and down 20 pounds give or take and maintaining my current weight for the last year or so. I ordered my dress in a size 10 the 8 was snug...but it zipped. Probably could of gotten away with the 8 but they always say it’s easier to take a dress in than let it out

I got a personal trainer shortly after my engagement! She taught me flexible dieting/if it fits your macros, and I utilize weight training. You have to have the mindset of making it a lifestyle change rather than "I want to weigh x by this date," otherwise, it's easy to yo-yo diet and not keep any weight/body fat off. I follow an 80/20 rule where my diet is clean, whole, nutritious foods 80% of the time and fun and less nutritious 20% of the time. It allows me to not feel restricted and I can still enjoy all the foods I like (plenty of carbs included). I also make it to the gym 4-5 times per week, prioritizing lifting weights. I haven't done cardio in like 6 months, but I've been able to keep off my lost weight/body fat by making sustainable lifestyle changes! It all depends on what you like and what you'll be able to stick to. I just like pasta and oatmeal too much to cut carbs, and lifting weights makes me feel strong and sexy. Plus, it's the most efficient way to build muscle so you can look more defined.

Sorry for the long post! I'm just passionate about this stuff.
