Shoe Care

Brittani, on September 25, 2023 at 7:56 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
My ceremony shoes are sort of matte-pleather kitten heels (haven’t worn them outside aside from dress shopping), and my reception shoes are these cute lace/crochet sneakers from David’s Bridal. (Same thing: haven’t worn them aside from dress shopping.)

The soles on the heels are slick, slick, slick. I’m thinking of wearing them to the wedding shower and/or bridal shower to help break them in.

Both shoes have the same (expected) problem: they’re white. Since we all know what a beast it is to keep anything white clean… how would I go about cleaning them?

I'm no help when it comes to cleaning ideas, but I would definitely suggest putting non-slip skid pads on the bottoms of the shoes to eliminate the slipperiness!

Maybe just wear them around the house instead? You can scuff up the soles a bit with sandpaper.

Take a knife to the sole and make some # shapes - that helps. I would avoid wearing them outside before your wedding, that's going to be the easiest way to get them dirty.

I agree you should scuff the soles so you don't slip. As for cleaning, lace should be spot treated. Start with soap and water, then move on to stronger cleaners (like vinegar and baking soda) as needed. The pleather should be fine with soap and water, or even just water.

I didn’t have sandpaper, so I tried it with my pumice stone 😂
