Shoe game

Did anyone or is anyone doing the shoe game. If you did, did your guest enjoy it or would you leave it out?

I've only ever seen this as a fun bridal shower game. I haven't been to any weddings where they played the shoe game or any game for that matter. However, other brides on here have said they've done it and have had success. I think it depends on your crowd.

I'm planning on doing it at mine. I think its a good idea to make it fun especially if people are nervous about getting up to dance and stuff during covid. i've seen videos of people doing it on youtube at their weddings and i thought it looked fun. Its definitely more interesting than watching bridal parties do the typical dances, where everyone just slowly waddles around on the floor in the same spot. I'm also doing it in mine since i'm not having any mother/son, father/daughter dances. figured this is a good alternative for that time slot. I think if you want, you could add some funny questions in there and really get your audience involved too by giving them "bride or groom" cards to hold up when doing the game so that they can take their guesses too.

I attended a friend's wedding about 4/5 years ago where the shoe game was played. Everyone enjoyed it and even laughed at how the bride and groom answered the questions.

We were supposed to play it at our microwedding but time slipped and we honestly forgot about it. We said that we would play it at our upcoming reception since we forgot last time but I doubt it'll happen. We're gonna be ready to party 🤣

Probably depends on your crowd. I've been to one wedding reception where the couple played the shoe game and all of the guests were extremely bored and ended up gathering at the bar instead (only a few guests stuck around the dance floor to watch/participate). I do think it works better for a bridal shower than a reception, but perhaps that's just my crowd. If the shoe game is something that's typically played in your social circle, then maybe it would be better received. Either way, if you do play it, I'd keep it relatively short so that it doesn't drag on too long

Have you been to a wedding where they played it? Did you enjoy it as a guest? I think it depends on the vibe you're going for at your reception. Frankly I've never heard of it and had to look it up on YouTube. Seems like a timer filler during dinner, like you're being the entertainment lol. If you need a filler while the band gets ready and you like sharing your personal info, go for it. These are the factors I would consider.

My people would not find it interesting, and would be bored being stuck to their chairs. They would want to get up and mingle and drink and talk. But not everyone is like my people lol. Know your crowd, as they say!

My husband and I did the shoe game at our June wedding this summer and it was great. We had about 20 questions and the dj asked us the questions during dinner. Guests loved it! We still watch the play back and it’s so fun to see how entertained they all were. Plus I think it was fun for them to get to know us as a couple more. It also works best if you have a very lively and funny person asking the questions.
