Shoes for grass ceremony

Erin, on January 26, 2017 at 9:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

I'm getting married next summer and we're having an outdoor ceremony in the grass. As much as I want pretty wedding heels, I don't want to be worried about sinking into the grass as I walk down the aisle. Has anyone done pretty wedges or sandals? Send pics!

Check out solemates... They're supposed to protect high heels from sinking into the grass! I've seen them at David's bridal but I'm sure you could get them on Amazon too.

Check out Heels Above High Heel Protectors on Amazon. They keep you from sinking into the grass. I've seen similar ones at DSW.

Look for wedges. I've seen women in solemates, but I can't tell you if they actually work.

One of my brilliant brides brought in a dozen slate tiles and made a walkway. Cheap, easy, problem solved!

I planned on wearing heels but just went back to my venue wearing them on the grass. I sank immediately! I'm now waiting for wedges to come that I ordered. I'll probably wear my heels for reception but would rather be safe for the ceremony. I heard of the heel protectors but don't want to risk it

    Love those Almost!

No one really notices the solemates; they're clear.

I don't ever wear heels so I'm not wearing them on my wedding day. I bought pretty sandals, I'd post a picture but they're in the bedroom closet and FH is sleeping. I think it's all upto you and what you're comfortable with.

There are a bunch of heel protectors on the market now for this reason. If you're sold on heels, just get a pair.

I'm having an outdoor ceremony in the grass too, so I'm just wearing some bedazzled sandals. My FH also isn't much taller than me, so these'll also prevent me from being taller than him (he doesn't like it for whatever reason).

Wear fancy flats!! You can always wear gorgeous heels for pictures and the reception if its important to you. Even if you wear wedges, you still are taking the risk of the uneven ground and twisting your ankle or falling.

I would err on the side of caution and maybe do flats or wedges. I use a product similar to solemates on my ballroom shoes and they tend to make the shoes feel unstable. ETA: words are difficult

I am having an outdoor ceremony as well, I opted for wedges with good ankle support! These are Badgley Mishka and super comfy!

My BM used solemates at her wedding in September. They broke through the heel in about five minutes... She ended up wearing my silver flip flops down the aisle and the rest of the night so honestly, just buy a pair or wedges or flats and call it a day.
