shoes for navy dresses

Laura, on July 2, 2008 at 10:41 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7

Hey all-

I picked out navy blue dresses for a January wedding for my bridesmaids. Do you guys have an idea of what color shoes to have them wear? I'm thinking dyed navy shoes - but here is my next question - do you know where I can get shoes dyed? I have found a million places on the internet to buy dyeable shoes, but I don't know where to take them then to actually get dyed.

Thanks!

Laura

Laura you can definitely have shoes dyed, or you could go with silver shoes, they would look sharp with navy dresses.

as far as where to go to get them dyed...any shoe repair shop should also dye shoes. My friend's dad owns a shoe repair shop and he dyes shoes.

You can always go with dyed navy shoes, but metallics look very chic with navy. Plus, your bridesmaids will probably be excited they can wear the shoes again with something other than the bridesmaid dresses. Smiley smile

You can find dyable shoes at many bridal stores! But make sure they are truly dyable though...some claim to be, but they're not. So just make sure...

I did the same thing...my bridesmaids wore dark purple dresses! I thought Black? No.

You don't want to go with anything lighter than your hemline, so the shoes should be the same color or a shade darker (not lighter).

Do you have a David's Bridal where you live? They're awesome for shoes! They're super cute & they do a great job dying!

Silver is ok in winter? I wasn't sure!

I do have a David's bridal, and I've gotten shoes there for other people's weddings. Unfortunatly they don't have a huge closed-toe selection, which is a must for a snowy Pennsylvania wedding!

Navy is a really tough color to match even when you have the shoes specially dyed. I say stick with a metallic like a silver, gold, copper, etc. There are several websites online (to dye shoes), but I would definitely try to find a vendor in town if you go that way. I would call a bridal salon near you, they probably carry dyeable shoes. The other thing is that even if the dye lot is the same, the fabric of the shoe tends to be shiny and may reflect a different navy than the fabric of the dress.

    Hello Laura,

Since your wedding is in Jan. and the dresses are navy blue, you can either go with dyeable shoes or you can get silver shoes for the dresses, along with silver accessories.
