I haven't found my dress yet, but I am 5 ft 1in. and would love to see what dresses other "short" ladies chose. I am thinking about going with a mermaid gown, but not sure if it will work since I'm short. Going dress shopping tomorrow. So, excited!

You can always see if they have petite. My dress the waist sat funny ( well all of them) because I'm 5'2. And we ordered petite. No the bottom is perfect and doesn't hit the floor and the waist looks tons better

I am 5'2" and here is my dress, its a sweetheart with a drop waist. My 2nd choice was a mermaid and fit well too. I think the ones that doesnt work well are the ball gowns.

**Also just FYI I am wearing 5" heels here Smiley smile

I am 5'0 I chose a mermaid that hits me right above the knee and actually made me feel just a little elongated...if possible, lol. The "flare" portion (WHERE it flares is important). Ball gowns swallowed me. A-line isnt my style. I didnt try any sheath.

I'm not short (I'm 5'8) but my MOH is short (4'9 I believe) but she went with a ballgown...she loved it and it looked beautiful on her (she also wore pretty tall shoes) but I think if you find the right dress it will look great no matter what!

(sorry this is the best picture I could find at the time..and her shoes aren't on in this picture, but you get the idea)

I am also 4' 11" and chose this, although I have to tell you the "trumpet" gowns looked AMAZING on me too! I think it is less dramatic than mermaid and fit n flair, and for short people it gives that desired effect without cuting you off or making you even shorter. You might try on a trumpet!

I'm 5'3" and 115 pounds, the first two is the model, the last one is me and my sister, sorry it's not the greatest pic, I love this dress but I was told that mermaids make short people look shorter, I'm very happy with my dress

I havent chose mine yet, but Im 5'2" and pretty chubby so im hoping to find one that has a sweetheart neckline, off-the-shoulder sleeves, and flares a bit directly below my breasts. The girls are my best asset so im hoping i can find something that accentuates them and draws the eye away from my waistline

Not the best picture, but I'm 5' 0" (barely) and even wore Converses with this dress. The second picture is the designer picture of the dress.

I'm 5' 1" 115 lbs and mine is a fit and flare corset back. I would definitely say stick with something that shows your body more and doesn't swallow you up with ti being too big at the bottom. I also tried on sheat dreasses and trumpet and A-line and all looked good on me. A girl at teh shop was my size and doing those ball gowns and it just looked like she was shopping for a gypsy wedding lol

Agreed with other posters about ball gowns...it looked like i was being taken over by the dress, too much dress for petite girls Smiley smile

    I'm 4'11'' (but wearing 5'' heels), 120 pounds and...

I did everything 'they' told me NOT to:

    Ball gown (with train)

    Basque waist

    Bright white

    Huge bouquet

Do what feels good for ya. :-)

I'm not as short as some of the other ladies here (5' 3 1/2") but I didn't wear heels at all with my dress.

I found the ones that were too big made me feel heavier than I am and were heavy! Definitely more dress than I wanted.

5' 3" here! The dress (with medium heels) will JUST touch the ground.

My dress only comes to mid thigh in the very front then the back is long and bc you can see my legs it makes me look taller! But i know im wearing a very unusual dress compared to most brides
