What kind of advice are you looking for specifically? Have you already booked your venue and vendors?

I guess just advice on how to stay sane and try to pay for things myself. I have booked the main vendors (venue and photographer) and have decided to basically diy the rest.

I’d say have a budget of how much you’re willing to spend. Most times DIY stuff is just as expensive. I was going to DIY my bouquet, but after adding everything up it was easier to purchase one from Etsy. However, I did make a lot of our signs and stationary items. Is anyone helping you?

Thank you that's very helpful! I was gonna diy my bouquet too but ended up buying one cheaper from Amazon and it's way more beautiful than I could have ever made!

I've also been utilizing Facebook marketplace for a lot of things.
Financially no, no one is helping other than my fiancé, but making things I've got a good bit of help.

I highly suggest looking and seeing if there are local wedding FB groups you can join. You may be able to get some stuff for super cheap/free even from them. I did!!!

I found an article that many American couples marry in 4 months, so you're not alone! I actually married in 5 months so even a big wedding is doable, but stressful (like any wedding). I would say know your talents, be a team with your FS, and give yourself permission to exclude something unnecessary.

It sounds like you are interested in decor. I like the suggestions above, and would add apply your DIY talents judiciously. Your time does not have to be spent on hot glue. You can also borrow tablecloths, lanterns, jewelry, veils, getaway cars. You can reuse your own jewelry, shoes, transport, sentimental items, music playlist. If you need flowers, a combination of fresh and fake flowers can lower costs, but the fewer fake items the better. Just go alternative like candles. You can rent linens, place settings, chairs, venues. Last, I would nix bridal parties, traditions, signs and standard wedding cake for modern simplicity. Good luck.

Our engagement was only 4.5 months long and some of that we hadn't even decided to get married this year.

My biggest recommendation would be to make quick decisions where possible; with 4 months you just don't have the luxury of spending days or weeks umming and ahhing over each decision.

We both also wrote a short list covering what was important to us and we focused heavily on getting those things right. Anything else we considered 'nice to haves' and decided not to stress if they didn't come about.

If you have family and friends with skills, free time and enthusiasm make sure you say yes when they offer help. 4 months to arrange a wedding is no mean feat so a little help goes a long way!

Obviously the more you can streamline and simplify the better - we did ceremony and reception at the same place (two birds, one stone + no transport to organise) and opted for a buffet; both because its more affordable and also because then you can save time and money on seating charts, place settings etc.

Facebook marketplace is a godsend for second hand wedding decs too!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this out for me! I really appreciate it. The lists is a great idea that I hadn't thought of yet! I'm so overwhelmed trying to do everything at one time that I hadn't thought to try to kinda go one or two at a time focusing on the important things!

I really appreciate the advice ♡ we are DIYing most of it because of the cost of things. We also ditched the cake! (For the most part) and went with a tiny naked cake and come cute cupcakes ♡
