Short train wedding dress...no bustle?

Nina, on August 20, 2015 at 3:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3

My dress is going to have a short train (I think it's a sweep train, not sure on the terminology) and when I asked about a bustle they said they don't normally have them on short trains because they won't hang properly. I did a bit of a google search and couldn't really find any info on what to do to avoid stepping on the train or ripping it.

So my question is for anyone who has had or is having a short trained dress.... what was it like walking/dancing? Is there another way to clip it up off the floor when the party and dances really get going? I know it'll get dirty and i'm ok with that, our wedding is mainly indoors. Is there anything I can ask for specifically that might help?

They can absolutely do a bustle on a sweep train. I have a sweep train and am having a 5 point bustle done.

ETA: When I first read this, it sounded like the alterations place said you *couldn't* do a bustle. But if you don't want a bustle, then you probably don't need to with a sweep train. For me, I wanted a bustle because I trip over stuff all the time and I can only imagine someone stepping on my gorgeous little train and tearing the dress during the reception... not going to happen with a bustle!

I think when I go there tomorrow i'll tell them I want one added so that I have the option. I just see it being a pain in the ass without.

I would do a bustle on a sweep train. A bustle on a puddle train might look awkward. I almost bought a dress with a puddle train and I just thought it looked like it was too long in the back, not like it had a train.
