Shorten(ed) songs? Fading songs out?

Reggie, on September 8, 2015 at 6:30 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 4

So my FMIL has now said she wants a mother-son dance and has chosen a freaking 6 minute song. A) I don't want it to take that long an B) FH doesn't want to dance for that long because he hates it. Does anyone know of a way to shorten the track or a place to find shortened versions? We are not having a DJ and are using an iPod so we have to do this ourselves.

This is also somewhat of an issue for when we are walking down the aisle because since that isn't an exact science and we may walk faster or slower on the day it would be great if there was an app or something that allowed for fading out the music when we got up there. I have an iPod touch so we could always put an app on there if there is one.

Any help would really be appreciated.

I managed to find a 3 minute version of the song FMIL wants on Amazon so that problem is solved (though I still think it's a really weird song to dance to) but I still need to find some way to fade songs in and out on an iTunes/an iPod and I can't seem to find anything.

Who is managing the ipod if you aren't having a DJ? Would that person know how? I would try you tube and find a 'how to' video or something along those lines. Where there's a will there's a way.

We're just plugging it in the in-house stereo system and letting it go. I made a playlist. I've searched for probably 4 hours and I'm pretty good at finding things so at this point unless I can find someone who knows a solution I don't think I'll be able to find one just through searching.

Is there no one you can ask to just pull the volume down once you get to the front? There's a PC program called Audacity - it's free and you can edit music tracks with it, but that won't help you if you don't know how long you need the track to be. Even if you had an app, how would you trigger it to fade the music out? Seems to me that the simplest solution is just to find a volunteer to fade it out manually.
