Shotgun wedding

Tyesha, on August 15, 2021 at 8:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 3
Hi everyone! I was planning to get married next spring but now I just found out I’m pregnant! So I really want to move up the wedding to September! Am I being unfair to everyone by moving up the wedding and inconveniencing everyone? Btw I know the shotgun wedding isn’t really a thing anymore that’s not why I’m doing it. I’m a 39 year old first time bride with a grown daughter I pretty much raised on my own and a two year old granddaughter so I’m not really hung up on the whole pregnant before marriage thing. What do you think?

    First of all, congratulations!

Secondly, If you haven't sent out wedding invitations then you aren't 'inconveniencing' anyone by bringing forward a wedding they haven't yet been invited to.

Ultimately it depends on what you want but I would be mindful that in the midst of what is going on with the Delta variant, having a wedding now might be better suited to a smaller crowd or one that is outdoors.

I think it would be fine if you want to make it into a courthouse elopement kind of thing, but anything beyond that, I think it would definitely inconvenience your guests being only a month out. They may have to change their flights, etc. and some of those things are not refundable or restricted now due to the delta variant. So it depends a lot on the size of your wedding, how far your guests are traveling, and whether your venue will even allow it. Almost no vendors still have availability for fall 2021.

It’s your day, you get to choose! you would have to be okay if certain people can’t be there but i see no problem in you planning your wedding at what is convenient for you
