Should I add straps??

Laura, on July 3, 2014 at 1:21 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

I bought a strapless dress and now I'm thinking of adding off the shoulder straps to it. The kind that look soft and romantic (maybe in chiffon) rather than really droopy. This pic was of the day I bought it. It was a sample sale that just happened to fit so I'll still need the appropriate undergarments. A florist handed me the bouquet at the bridal fair to pose with then mentioned they were wet (hence the awkward expression!) I'd love and appreciate any feedback!

Here is the pic of the back. My main concern is the back of the dress might be too low to add straps connecting front to back across shoulders.....

I think it looks gorgeous as is, but if you are uncomfortable without straps, I think you can add them and look nice still.

The dress is beautiful. It looks great the way it is but I'm sure if you added straps or a halter it would look just as beautiful.

Off the Shoulder straps would look really nice with it. That is a GORGEOUS dress! I am totally having dress envy.

It's a gorgeous dress, but it's about how comfortable you feel. See if your seamstress can show you some ideas of the straps/cap sleeves she could create. Seriously, it looks like it was made for you!

I think you look great in it! Why do you want straps? I think it's great without it. But if you want to make it more unique-- i'd add a one shoulder strap look with the strap crossing in the back and not the front. BUT really, it's great without it.

I love your dress as is. It's absolutely gorgeous. But I understand if you're uncomfortable with strapless but it looks amazing on you without straps.

I think it looks amazing without straps, but if you really want them I would go with something off the shoulder.

Pretty dress. If you'd feel more comfortable with straps, I would add lace ones because it looks like the lace comes up the sides of the bodice. I think that would look really nice.

That dress is beautiful as is! But if you feel like straps would make you feel better in the dress, then go for it. I definitely don't think it needs straps- looks stunning on you!

Love your dress!! Mine has the lacey, romantic feel to it as well, and it has an illusion neck with straps (pic attached). Obviously the front would be different, but the back of my dress is as low as yours and I think the straps look good.

That dress is gorgeous! It looks like it was made for you! I don't think it needs straps, but it would still look good with them.

That dress is gorgeous! No straps needed but if you did I would say I agree with the off-shoulder idea.

You could go with something like Ren's straps...one caution about soft/romantic/lacy straps on a dress with a low back is to make sure they don't slip--particularly if they're off-the-shoulder straps. I attended a wedding recently where the lace straps kept slipping off the bride's shoulders all during the reception, receiving line, reception, etc. I felt very embarrassed for her.
