Should i be suspicious?

Ashley, on June 2, 2021 at 3:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
I have a planner who has been pretty good so far but I have one little hiccup that is a slight concern. My fiancé and I both told her that we would op for a photographer only. However, she suggests both having a photographer and a videographer even though we initially told her that it would be a dip in our budget to have both and we would be fine with just the photographer and spend the money on other wedding details. She acknowledges that we only want a photographer but she’s still holding out that maybe we will change our mind. She’s told us that a lot of her clients end up regretting not having a videographer, but it’s not a big priority for neither me nor my fiancé.

Does it sound like she’s looking out for our best interest or maybe just trying to get us to spend more money on a vendor she may know?

It sounds like she’s just looking to make sure you two have discussed it We didn’t hire a videographer and I don’t regret it, but I’ve seen a lot of people on these forums say they do regret not having one or that it was a huge priority for them.

I had zero intention of getting a videographer...I have had at least three friends who got married tell me I need one and they 💯 regret not getting one. Because of this, I think she is honestly looking out for your best interest...but it's really your decision in the end!

I’d guess the answer is yes to both. She is running a business and will make more money based on the amount you spend (likely). She also probably has worked with couples who have regretted not having a videographer. It doesn’t sound like she’s being that pushy by saying she’ll keep one in mind. If you feel that strongly about not having one, let her know that definitively.

I agree with above posters, she's likely just making sure you won't regret the decision or have discussed it.

Its something that isn't important to my FH and I either, just let her know -as long as she isn't being pushy about it

I think she’s looking out for you. Video captures a lot of things that photos can’t and you can’t really get a redo of your wedding day.

When I hire someone to work for me, I want their expert opinion, because that’s why I hired them. However, what I do mind is when the agenda of the vendor becomes more important.
If you explicitly told her you are not wanting or hiring a videographer and she keeps pushing it, she needs to stop bringing it up. It’s creating an untrustworthy relationship.
If she doesn’t know of your firm intentions of not having one, she needs to be told, firmly “we are not hiring a videographer.”

I think she's just trying to make sure you won't regret not having a videographer or changing your mind when it is too late.

Sounds like best interest. I am currently planning mine and we were only going to with a photographer as well. A coworker suggested we do the videography because she regrets not doing it. Think of it like this, you do the videography and your mother starts getting Alzheimer's, wants to see it since she can't remember. now you have a way of sharing it with your mother, or even elderly family that are too ill to travel.

Seems like she's looking out for your best interest. Honestly, me and my husband weren't going to get a videographer but we got one in the end. We got a trailer and it was beautiful and then uncut footage of the day. We were happy because the day goes fast and it captures those moments of the day that you couldn't see or whatever.
