Should i bring my own foundation on my makeup pre-trial #2?

Marline, on March 21, 2019 at 6:39 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 12
I had my makeup pre-trial done last weekend. I told my makeup artist that I was oily and had some acne scars that needed coverage. She told me “ok so let’s go for a full coverage” and see how you like it. I told her to go ahead and do a full coverage look. I usually don’t wear heavy foundation for my every day work week. I wear Bare Minerals mineral makeup which covers my flaws but doesn’t make me feel cakey through the day. I told my makeup artist after the pre trial that I’d rather do a more natural look next time. I’m worried the foundation she uses will be heavy and cakey again so I’m considering bringing in my own foundation (not Bare Minerals, but my Estee Lauder) I use on weekends or when I go out. Is that rude? Has anyone done this and how did you like your makeup?

My aunt did this for her sons wedding . It was no problem for the makeup artists and she looked great. Being the bride perhaps may be different must be long wear and not have “flash back”

Thank you. I haven’t experienced issues with flashback before but I’ll check reviews.

That's pretty much the same thing that happened with my friend, she even uses bare minerals too! Her MUA had no problem using my friends' products for the wedding.

Find a different artist. I had one with traditional makeup and one with airbrush. I like the airbrush a lot more.

My makeup artist is my bridesmaid (she's actually professional lol) but I'll be using my own foundation. I have super sensitive, break-out-prone skin and finally, after experimenting with different foundations for a literal decade, I found one that doesn't make me break out! No WAY are you getting me to put anything else on my skin! Lol.

Exactly! I have sensitive acne prone skin and don’t put anything on my face without doing my ingredient research lol. May I ask what foundation you found that you love? I tend to crease in my smile lines with most foundations and am yet to find the perfect liquid found that doesn’t do that.

I’m pretty sure I’ll be bringing my own makeup, just need to find a long lasting non-creasing, natural looking finish lol.

I don’t see anything wrong with bringing your own foundation! She should be only worried about making you look beautiful and feel beautiful for your day

I use Mary Kay products... creme to powder foundation, and then perfecting concealer over it. The foundation isn't like "liquid," it's in a little case and you apply it with a sponge. So it gets much less cakey than most foundations, because I honestly hate the feeling of liquid foundation, makes my skin feel like it's suffocating! This feels really lightweight, but it has pretty great coverage, especially with the concealer over it.

Mary Kay is a bit annoying honestly because you I don't believe they stock it in stores, you have to order through independent sales people... I started using it because my mom's acquaintance is a Mary Kay sales person. She constantly tries to pitch me going to her makeover promo events which I feel bad but like I don't have the time to do that lol. It's annoying to jump through the hoops for it, I wouldn't bother if it wasn't SUCH a good product. I'm pretty sure you can just order online though if you're interested!

Thank you! I will definitely ask her if it’s ok.
