Should i Cancel My Bachelorette Party?

Elisa, on March 12, 2020 at 3:10 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 9

They say when you get married and it rains, it's good luck. Does getting married during a pandemic mean your family is going to inherit billions of dollars and own a private island?! Lord, help us all!

So... my bachelorette party has been scheduled for months. We're leaving the evening of March 18- March 22 to New Orleans. I was thinking domestic travel would be fine, but given all that's happened during the last 24 hours, I'm weary about taking the risk. None of my bridesmaid have said anything being the sweet ppl that they are...they're just rolling with the punches.

I pretty much have to make a final decision in the next 24/48 hours and let the girls know if I'm canceling it. I don't want to put anyone at risk..while at the same time I feel like in the weeks to come, we will only hear of more people having it.

What would you do, and what do you feel is best?

Also, with cancelling flights, do they allow you to use those flights or miles and push them to a future date? I've never done this before...

So bummed.

Thanks for always helping me out!!! Smiley heart

I feel like it should be ok to travel for that trip unless any of you guys are already sick or immune system compromised

Call the airlines and see what’s their protocol during this pandemic . Flights dirt cheap right now so I think they have some kind of customer safety net in place. All the best.

Cancelling flights & credits is different for every airline, so I'd call customer service or look online. If you all are under 60 and don't have pre-existing conditions or are already sick, I'd probably still go. I have a friend leaving March 18 for Cabo. Just take precautions like carrying hand sanitizer, washing your hands thoroughly as much as you can, bring sanitizing wipes on the plane for your seat & the area around you, avoiding things like shaking hands/touching money/close contact with random people around you, don't get in super crowded places, etc. Hotels & airlines are taking extra precautions with cleaning too.

I would suggest calling, not even bothering doing if online. My co-worker was trying to cancel his flight to Vegas for next week and once he got to the end the site crashed. I'm guessing because of a lot of people going on there right now. So I would just call right first and forget the website.

My Bachelorette was scheduled for the same days and we've cancelled. Some of us were ok with it, but those who are frequently around the older parents/grandparents in their families didn't want to add to the risk of bringing it back to them. I'm super super bummed, but I also understand. Unfortunately things in the immediate next few weeks are out of our control and we just have to move forward the best we can. I hope if you do cancel you're able to reschedule!

Honestly, I would cancel and reschedule if at all possible.

I'm in the NYC metro area, and we've just shut down most major things. This is awful, and I'm so sorry.
