Should I Cancel my Bridal Shower?

My bridesmaids, mother and MIL didn't offer to throw me a shower. I took it upon myself because I thought that was what I was supposed to do. I booked the place I'm having it, made an event on facebook and bought supplies to have it in 5 weeks. Well, after getting bashed on here for throwing my own,...

Well, after getting bashed on here for throwing my own, should I just cancel? Am i being selfish by having one?

I wanted to save on postage/getting invites honestly... seems trivial doesn't it.

And I CANNOT CANCEL THE DJ. PAID. IN. FULL. NO. PARTIAL. REFUNDS.

Catering is buffet style bbq. 2 meats, 2 sides. but it has to be GF and that raises the price.

Damnnn calm down, I, among others are trying to help you. So venue, caterer, DJ are all non-refundable? Okay, does ALL the food have to be GF or can you scale back on the cost by offering one meat and one side as GF? Is your caterer offering any other services?

But when its said 5 times that I cannot cancel the dj, and it keeps getting suggested its frustrating. Between the 2 of us, we have 15 people that are GF.

I get that, but there's also 220+ comments on here, people are just going to jump in without reading the whole thing.

Okay so 15 people are GF, but does all of the food have to be GF or can your caterer supply 15 GF meals while the rest is at a normal price?

I agree about all the comments. If I hadn't been following your thread all day I would have put my two cents in and called it a day.

Is there anyone close to you that know's how to party plan that you can ask advice? A long thread with many comments and opinions is going to be confusing.

    1. Let your MOH help you with your shower and let her take credit for hosting....regardless who pays.

    2. Dry weddings are not improperly hosting your guests it is simply not the favored route to go and usually fair better with certain types of weddings like early afternoon receptions. But at this point, with your budget, you'll be fine without it.

I think that doing things like dog-walking or driving for Uber probably does count as self-employment. But it's worth asking your job about it. Even if they don't count it as self-employment, if you explain that it's to raise funds for your wedding and only temporary, they may give you the go-ahead.
