Should I Cancel my Bridal Shower?

My bridesmaids, mother and MIL didn't offer to throw me a shower. I took it upon myself because I thought that was what I was supposed to do. I booked the place I'm having it, made an event on facebook and bought supplies to have it in 5 weeks. Well, after getting bashed on here for throwing my own,...

Well, after getting bashed on here for throwing my own, should I just cancel? Am i being selfish by having one?

If I don't cancel, I already have it in the description "if you would like to get us a gift, we are registered at ________." as opposed to 'we are registered at _______.'

Or is that just as bad?

I wouldn't cancel it if you've already spent money on it and have invited people. If you won't lose much money and you have not invited people yet-- cancel.

LOL its really no different. The minute you put that people know they are expected to give you a gift. Its so weird you would want to throw your own shower.

Don't worry about the register stuff. Once it is cancelled, there won't be any gifts anyways.

If you decide to go through with this, I wouldn't word gift giving in any way. I would just put nothing or something along the lines of, "Your presence is all the presents we need." Leave it at that. Don't add "...but if you would like to get us a present, we are registered at..." If someone asks, you can tell them where but don't put it on the invitation.

    @Yesenia

No one's called the OP a bitch, aside from in some phantom thread that doesn't appear in her posting history at all.

You calling us bitches is against the terms of service though. Flagged.

Serious question...WHAT on Earth is a groom's shower?

I'm sorry, I'm just picturing a bunch of guys ooh-ing and ahh-ing over dishtowels and mixers like we did at my bridal shower and it's a hilarious image in my head!!

And a profile picture is INTENDED TO SHOW YOUR FACE, and you have a dog!!! So who the hell cares?

If she doesn't have anyone to do it she can do it her self!

Shit if it's that much of a big deal to all of you let's pitch in and pay for it.

    Um... it's a cat.

And a profile pic is not required to show your face. It can be literally anything. This is one of about a dozen cats here.

@OP/Breanna - We appreciate that you have not retaliated in this thread. Things turn ugly when people act like @Yesenia.

ETA: @Yesenia - Avatar is just so that we know you aren't a troll and they show your personality and distinguish you from others. It doesn't have to be someone's face.

NO the avatar is to distinguish you from others, it can be a turd for all I care.

It is 2016, and its still RUDE AS FUCK to ask for gifts and throw yourself frivolous parties.

Its cute you coined a term to get even more gifts, grooms shower. LMAO.

    What's a groomshower?

ETA: @Yesenia I see your update above... well, no wonder he had to plan his own, because that's not actually a thing. He threw himself a bachelor party but made it into a gift grab.

Super cool is one way to describe it...just because something is on Pinterest doesn't mean it's a good idea. If FH had told me he wanted to host his own "bro-dal shower" I would've laughed him right out of the room, my apartment, and probably across the street.

Throwing your own party is gift grabby and tacky. Of any kind. Don't do it! OP, I would cancel. Yes, it's a bummer not to have one, but I personally would rather be internally upset that I wasn't having a party rather than being rude to my closest family and friends.
