Should I Cancel my Bridal Shower?

My bridesmaids, mother and MIL didn't offer to throw me a shower. I took it upon myself because I thought that was what I was supposed to do. I booked the place I'm having it, made an event on facebook and bought supplies to have it in 5 weeks. Well, after getting bashed on here for throwing my own,...

Well, after getting bashed on here for throwing my own, should I just cancel? Am i being selfish by having one?

Properly hosting your guests is more important than a honeymoon.

This is a great tool to help you calculate the cost of alcohol, although it does not take into account the bartender fee. http://www.thealcoholcalculator.com/?config=SmallWedding

    Please cancel.

Host your guests properly, even if it means paying Rangers.

Your honeymoon shouldn't take precedence over your guests that you invited.

Yes, scale down the HM and hire the ranger and get alcohol. Even just beer and wine is enough.

95% of brides (or more) on here are funding their own wedding.

You can also postpone your honeymoon. I got married on May 21 and I'm not leaving for my honeymoon until this Friday. It gave me time to save up for a honeymoon I wanted while paying for the wedding that I dreamed for.

I had honestly thought no alcohol was ok, I've been to only 2 weddings, but both were no alcohol. I didn't hear anybody complain. But here I go justifying.

Honeymoon just got paid in full last week. We're only doing a 4 day cruise. The biggest cost was the flight to florida.

35% of your overall budget is your HM. That seems high. You still have time to save the money to hire the ranger and get booze.

A lot of people don't get HM's so saying its just a 4 day cruise is a little ridiculous.

This may also be a moot point if the money is non-refundable (I am not sure if this was mentioned), but the money that you are spending on this shower could go towards providing alcohol to your wedding guests.

The $200 for the shower includes everything?

Holy hell. Just so you know, people will side-eye the hell out of the fact that you are going on an expensive honeymoon but couldn't afford to host them properly at the reception.

Invitations go out 8-10 weeks before the wedding date.

Breanna, I honestly didn't expect to be here, but I'm feeling sorry for you. This has all got to be kind of overwhelming right now.

Okay, so definitely cancel the shower thing and save your money there. You're out $200 no matter what, but you can save on buying snacks and food for people. Whatever you were planning to spend on a bachelorette can be saved too. All of that can be beer and wine money.

You mentioned you were all going to get drunk at the shower. Did you already buy the booze? If so, that can be repurposed and if not you can use that money for wedding drinks.

Maybe if you post some things that are yet to be paid for, folks can tell you what can be cut. There's actually a lot of fat to be trimmed in the average wedding budget.

Cancel it. Frankly, you never should have scheduled it.

My shower wasn't until a month before my wedding. Do you think maybe they're throwing you a surprise shower later that you don't know about?

I would just update the facebook invite. Call it a get-together and specify no gifts.

Wait, did you say that the people invited to your wedding are not the same people invited to the shower? Please tell me I misunderstood/that was a typo.

    Not touching the dry wedding.

Oh Queen....stop it. There is plenty of love and sincerity behind most of the posts here except ones that ask for support for bad ideas.

Yep, we're catty. You might have seen the abundance of cat avatars here, so clearly, the humans are outnumbered.
