Should i change my engagement ring?

Jainee, on October 13, 2019 at 9:09 PM Posted in Married Life 0 9
I’ve had my engagement ring since December.
and I love it so much!!!

A few days ago we went to a jewelry store and the lady offered to clean my ring while we are looking for his band.
my ring does have a lot of scratches and I mean ALOT!!! she came back and she showed me that my diamonds are loose and some are flipped over! She was unable to clean it because it’s not their ring and if she damaged it she would be responsible.
my ring is kinda discolored, it’s about a shade darker than when I first got it.

The lady told us pricing for tightening the diamonds and cleaning was $50.

I love my ring because my fiancé picked it out for me .

he mentioned to me that the jewelry place has a life time warranty and if anything happened to my ring it would be covered at no cost.
He mentioned to me it might be worth looking into a new more expensive ring with the lifetime warranty so I can keep it for a long time.

I feel guilty for changing my ring because he picked it out just for me by himself, and it has a huge sentimental to me..

i told him I planned to wear my engagement and my wedding band every single day! So a lifetime warranty would be great!!

i have a this attachment to my current ring but I also would want a better quality ring , since I’ve only had mine for less than a year and it’s falling apart already.

and since my ring is around the $200 range , I don’t see the worth paying $50 each time to get it fixed or cleaned.. But I also feel bad for him to spend $1000 or more on my ring. He’s okay with it, but I just feel bad.

any suggestions? Should I just pay $50 each time? Or just have him invest into a more expensive ring with the warranty?

You're supposed to get your ring checked and cleaned by the original jeweler every 6 months. This is to make sure the prongs are properly tight. If the diamonds are actually flipped around, that does sound unusual, however.

Don’t feel bad if he wants to upgrade you girl !!! Inexpensive rings can be great, but if you’re having issues and he’s fine with upgrading mos def do it ! Black Friday and holiday time is coming up so he can save some coins and still get you a good quality ring ! I’m all about sales haha so he can find some good stuff for under $1000 that’s a little better quality .. Itll be just as special if he picks out the next one or even if y’all go together ☺️...

It’s entirely up to you but if he can afford it, I’d say go for it! You get what you pay for at the end of the day. Smiley smile

If FH is okay with it, then why not!? Lots of women upgrade their rings at some point.

My FH offered to upgrade my current ring to a Tiffany diamond ring. I told him to do it if that’s what he wants to give me and can truly afford it (I’m not going to say no to a Tiffany diamond ring!). Tiffany offers amazing lifetime warranties and upgrade programs, too.

    Good luck!

You call also insure your rings vs looking for rings with a warranty. I have a $0 deductible if it’s ever lost, stollen or damaged. The annual premium is based on the rings value so it varies. For me it’s 1% of my ring‘s value every year. I highly recommend insuring it regardless of what you decide to keep the original or upgrade.

We did. We insured all the rings since it was so affordable, including FH’s ring!

I would do whatever your heart desires, so long as FH is okay with the decision too! As I’m sure no one wants to get their feelings hurt. I would also check to see if your jewelry store offers an upgrade/ trade in type deal! I also agree with the person above, holidays are coming up... so deals are going to be out for sure!! Good luck in your decision making 😊💕
