Should i change my hair color?

Judy, on June 7, 2018 at 1:01 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 22

Hi Lovelies! So i have been contemplating if i should dye my hair before my wedding (oct 19)? I've been wanting to change my hair color for sometime now but have been told to leave it natural for my wedding or i may regret it later...what are your thoughts??? By the way, the color i had in mind will be a lot light from my natural hair color which is a mix of black and brown. TIA!

Hi Judy! If you'd like to dye your hair, then do it! Also, if you do it months prior to your wedding, at least you can see if you like it! I hope everything goes well!! Good luck!

It's your hair, do what you want with it. If you want to color it, then do so.

I am having my hair dyed light pink and purple for my wedding. So I'm on team do what you want with your hair lol. It really frustrates my parents since I have red hair that they think I should never touch.

I'm all for doing what would make you happy, but I would do it way before the wedding to make sure you like it.

If you decide to go that route but leave it natural, maybe you can do some low/highlights lights. something subtle but also gives you dimension

If you want to do that, go for it! But I would do it soon so if you end up not liking it, you can change it up before the wedding.

Have you ever dyed your hair before? If not, I wouldn't. I'm 24, and I've been highlighting and bleaching and dying my hair since I was 15. I've had light blonde, bleach blonde, strawberry blonde, dark brown, black, purple, fire engine red, and blue hair. My natural is dark blonde. Our wedding isn't for another 13 months, so I've stopped everything to try to get my natural color to come back. It's going pretty well, 4 inches of roots have come in. A couple months before, I plan on going to a salon to dye the ends to match my roots after they have grown out hopefully another 5-6 inches. I WISH I had listened to my mom and never dyed my hair. I've lost so much thickness to my hair over the years, and don't feel like the color I had will ever really come all the way back. My hair is also pretty unhealthy with split ends and a lot of breakage, so I've had to spend a lot on masks and treatments and vitamins for help. So if you were asking just me, I'd keep your natural hair and experiment after the wedding!

Lol. I'm on Team Do-What-You-Want-With-Your-Hair too. I had dark brown with navy highlights so it took 9+ months to stop coloring for a while then in 2-3 sessions to get to the Elizabeth Swann (Pirates of the Caribbean) blondish hair I wanted.

Start the process now so you don't have to destroy your hair right before your wedding. That way you have time to change/adjust it to perfection. Nothing dramatic the last month before your wedding. Only final trim or touch-up 1-2 weeks before.

    Go for it!

If you are going to do it do it now so if you end up hating it the color will have worn enough you can go back to your natural color. If you end up loving it you can redo it a week or two before the wedding

Yes! Try it and you can always go back to dark. I just lightened my hair before my wedding in 2 weeks and didn’t love it, so I had them put in a gloss to darken it a couple of shades and love it! Months before your wedding you have time to play with it! If it’s why your heart is calling for, listen to it! Is easy to go back dark after lightening it up if you don’t love it! Good luck!!

I would recommend to do what makes you feel like you. I have met a few women who did something major before their wedding like change hair color, have darker skin tone for tanning, etc. and then they don't feel like they look like themselves in their wedding photos but if it's something you want to keep or have done before and loved them I say go for it!

As a hairdresser- hearing that your hair is a mix of black/brown i would suggest starting now if you’re wanting to go lighter!! Or else it could easily get stuck in the awkward orange stage!

I say go for it if that’s what you want. I was a blonde when I met my FH & throughout the years have changed from blonde, cooper, strawberry blonde, caramel to dark brown. I was a dark brown for the past 2 years. My FH asked if I would go back to blonde & we compromised because I don’t want to go all the way blonde so I’m going caramel brown with blonde but I have been doing the process little by little to not damage my hair due to when it goes from dark to light the bleaching process can be brutal on your hair. I do not want to damage my hair so toning it down 1st is the best way to go & the process is much longer so I had to start 4 months ago & I’m almost in the last stages go having it exactly how I want it to be. Good luck!

I would never dream of making a drastic change right before my wedding, not knowing if I'd like the end result or not. Those photos are forever!

If you want to dye your hair, do it sooner than later. You don't want to dye it before the wedding and then be unhappy with it for some reason. If you do it sooner you have the option / ability to change it if you need to for some reason.

Me - I am planning on dying my hair soon after the wedding. I want my natural color for the wedding.
