Should I expect only half of my guests to accept the invitation?

Stacy, on July 5, 2013 at 2:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

41% of Guests Have RSVP'd. Out of that percentage, 47% Have Declined. They still have 2 weeks to reply. If this continues we'll have one empty reception. What kind of turn out did you receive?

Well, I think maybe 80% accepted. We only invited 60ish people. I guess I'll see soon who actually shows.

So that only makes it about a quarter of your guests have declined? That's not terrible. You still have 2 more weeks for the RSVPs to come in. Don't judge the rest by what you have so far.

We invited 155 & had 125 show up, so right around 80%.

I'm curious about that too. Just love providing counts for some things before the invites even go out :/

I've noticed on here that 60% "the rule." I also think that the shorter your guest list, the higher the number attending seems to be. Of course we've also seen the number of people who don't send the RSVP back...annoying.

Invited 134, had 99. But everyones different- some people had 100%, others had really high decline rates... I wouldnt expect 50% declines though, like OTW said, its only a quarter that declined so far.

It was about 50% for me. I invited about 135 and 70 accepted the RSVP. 66 ended up coming to the wedding. 4 didn't make it due to illness. It seems high because I really padded the numbers just in case any of the couples wanted to bring their children. Most guests left the kids at home.

I think we're the exception to the rule, especially considering our Friday date. We invited 170 total. 89 have responded so far, only 4 of which were declines. Most of the people we have yet to hear from are close family (FH's parents haven't even RSVP'd yet), so I think we'll be that fluke 95% acceptance case. All I'll say is, everyone who accepts better darn well actually show up!!!

I think 75 to 80% acceptance is generally the normal. I wouldn't worry about it! You'll still have a lovely time!

I'm just concerned that we'll have less than 40 people at the wedding since we only invited 74.

Invited 145 and had 135 RSVP yes.

The only ones that didnt say yes were out of state.

We are expecting 60% - 75% of our guests to RSVP/attend. We are having an adult reception so that eliminates a lot of our guests with children.

We're in the same boat. We invited 188 (including some plus ones and significant others, we sent out about 90 invitations), right now we only have 55 accepted, and I'm seriously thinking we are only going to have 80 guests!!

Depends a lot on whether your guests are out of state or not. Almost every single person on our guest list is out of state--even out of the country. I have 157 invited and so far 58 have accepted, 66 have declined and 33 are still trying to figure out ways of coming or if they can make it.
