Should i get a wedding videographer?

Richaelyn, on May 3, 2021 at 5:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
I’m trying to decide if I should get a videographer or not. Maybe y’all can help me... For 5 hours of shooting coverage, one videographer, and a 5 minute highlight video, I’ve received a quote for $500 and a different quote for $650. The $650 videographer normally charges $1,500 so, I’m already getting a huge deal. Also, the more expensive option looks like it’ll be better quality too. However, I don’t know if I want to spend another $500-650 on this wedding😩 😂 but I think it’ll be a nice memory to have since hopefully it’ll be the only day I get married. We could show it to our kids and I can see what I didn’t get to see the day of. Do y’all think it's worth it to get a videographer?

I think I was worth it. You only have so many things to look back on from that day and as time passes memories fade so it is nice to have a video to watch to replay those memories. We just had our first child and I definitely plan on showing her our video when she is older.

I think it’s worth it! We opted for the cheaper package our videographer offered (a short 5-10 minute recap of the day as opposed to a short recap and a full video of our entire day) but I just feel like even having some type of video to see your wedding in motion will be so amazing to look back on, especially when you’ll likely be so overwhelmed to truly take in everything the day of

It looks like you're located in Texas... though I'm not familiar with wedding videography prices in Texas, to me, that's a bargain! I'm currently holding onto the possibility of getting a videographer for an elopement in Oregon around the same price... and it is SUPER hard to find someone within that budget range. I've only found two videographers ($500 and $800), and I really wish I had more options within the that budget range for 4 hours.

If you can budget for it and believe you'll be watching and sharing the video, do it! Another thing to consider is that videos are always nice for truly reliving the day. Besides, your profile picture shows how cute you two are together... I think you'll enjoy looking at your interactions throughout your wedding day being played out before your eyes.

That's actually a really good price, so I'd think about it if I were you. But also ask yourself if you're ever going to watch it again. In Los Angeles, a CHEAP videographer is $1500 so we're probably going to skip it. I see myself looking back at photos a lot more than watching a video of my wedding, but that's just me. If you could get both photographer and videographer for around 1k, I'd totally do it

It’s personal preference. You do only get married once and a video captures things that photos can’t:. As an example, a grandparent or relative who you might not see again on film.

Those are great deals. If you don’t care about special editing, invest in a GoPro that can be used to document other life events afterwards.

That is an AMAZING deal! We are paying wayyyy more than that for video. To me I think that while there is the chance you might not watch it much, it will be nice to have to look back on in 30 years, or with your future kids. Plus with COVID a lot of people are not able to include everyone they would like to on their guest list, or some family is older and can't come. Sending them the video is a great way to make sure they can still see the wedding day.

I honestly think 650 is a steal, and it will be worth it

Personally, my fiance and I didn't think it was worth it. We've had friends who have had videographers and while the videos are beautiful, they said they only watch it once or twice after they get it. The important parts you might want filmed (first dance, toasts, etc) can be filmed by a guest... they usually are anyway 🤣 We decided to save that money and use it towards our dream photographer instead.
