Should I go commando?

Corinne, on April 10, 2017 at 11:48 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 40

Hi everyone! I am recently engaged and am planning a wedding for May 2018. I have already tried on dresses and am seriously considering a very form fitting dress with crepe fabric (Pronovias Oreste). With this type of dress, the salesperson at the bridal shop said it was best to go commando. I do not have a problem with this, but wanted to see if anyone one else had any suggestions on brands of under garments that are undetectable under thin fabric or any experience with this issue. Thanks!

I have added a picture down below in the comments.

That sounds like bad advice. I definitely wouldn't go without undergarments. Can you share pictures of the dress?

I was completely naked under my dress and it was awesome. Recommend it 10/10 Smiley smile

I think a thin thong would be your best bet. If you're having people help you get ready and into your dress, I think they would appreciate you wearing some sort of underwear haha.

Not to be weird/gross but do you sweat a lot? You'll generally be hotter in a dress then normal and you'll be dancing/walking a lot. May want underwear if you sweat at all. I second at least wearing a thong especially for those helping you into the dress lol.

CuteNickName- why do you think it's bad advice?

If I wear formfitting sheer/thing/slinkey dresses- I frequently go with itty bitty barely there g strings- or commando.

    What's wrong with that?

OP- if you're comfortable- go for it.

Here is a pic of me in the dress. As you can see, my underwear lines are very apparent.

Beautiful dress. I say if you are comfortable with going commando, then go for it. Whenever I am home I am always commando (under my sweats or pjs) underwear is annoying. Sometimes you need just to breathe down there which is actually healthy for it.

@Cutenickname -- not sure why you are saying that is bad advice?

With your body and that dress, I'd totally go commando

Ah- those dresses are so pretty.

I'd wear a very thin microfiber thong- or nothing at all. OR like MBean says- something that goes up to the bra line- and down the thigh.

I love your dress! I don't think that's bad advice. If I had that dress I would either go commando or where a tiny tan g-string.

Maybe this is a know your crowd situation, but my sister will be helping me in to my dress, it's nothing she hasn't seen before. We may be more comfortable with each other than most though lol.

@Jo I can't imagine not having a layer of protection for any possible fluids, or to cover any hint of cameltoe. I'd be really self conscious all day. But if it works for you ladies who am I to judge. @OP, wow, I wish I had your body. What I can see of your gown looks elegant and beautiful.

I'm team underwear, but clearly there are different preferences. You could try going commando during a night out dancing in a different dress beforehand. That way you'll know if you're comfortable.

Date Twin!!! I don't think I could be comfortable going commando, so I'd wear no show panties, a thong or maybe even the higher waisted and boy short type to guarantee that snug fitting curve is smooth.

But if you feel comfortable with out underwear, go for it!

Hmmm, if you're worried about show-through, perhaps a seamstress could sew in a slip that would give you some protection but wouldn't harm the look of the dress? I dunno, just spit-balling.

I'd be afraid something would be visible at some point in that fabric.

Try VS. They do have seamless thongs.

Or, walk around your home in the dress (and sit!), then see how you feel!

    ETA: words.

I would worry about being sweaty, which is why I'm on team panty.
