Should I have a piñata at my wedding?

mkole, on August 14, 2014 at 7:35 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 51

Either just me and the groom break it or we give our guests a shot (about 50 guests...I could do multiple pinatas).

It would be filled with candy for their favors. (We can provide extra in case they didn't get enough)

Pinatas are more of a birthday party thing IMO

I wouldn't personally BUT that being said it's YOUR day. There are a lot of things I'm doing that a lot of people tell me I shouldn't. If a pinata sounds like a good time to you then do it! It could be a lot of fun.

Depends on how formal it is.... this was done at my venue and I thought it looked fun. (You have to scroll down quite a bit. http://stevisayler.com/2014/07/16/ashland-oregon-photography-arly-and-pauls-grizzly-peak-winery-wedding/

It's not formal. an afternoon wedding/reception outside in a state park. there will be like a frisbee and horseshoes and maybe few other outdoor games available.

from the videos i've seen of it, the guests (and bride and groom) have a blast.

Thanks Future Mrs. Matthews! And ladies, this is actually a trend... some people like the kid inside to come out, I think it is an interesting way to hand out favors

I think of pinatas at birthday parties. I'm not sure I would scramble for candy at a wedding.

Do what you want. You aren't doing it at the ceremony (I hope) which should remain somewhat decent. But if you have a fun crowd who would get a kick out of it, I say go for it! After the ceremony it is just a party. Have fun.

I definitely wouldn't have one. Piñatas are more for a kids birthday party, not a wedding.
