Should I leave a bad review?

Mrs. Bauer-*$, on March 5, 2015 at 11:49 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25

Hey Ladies I need some help on this. I am not one to usually leave a bad review of a product on any website, I reviewed the place where I got me dress on here as a wonderful review and in hindsight I should have left a bad one but at the time I had nothing but praise. I recently purchased my garter from a shop on Etsy. I read all the reviews, the sellers conditions (3-5 business days to process and ship) and was fine with it. now here it is 3/5 and I have still not gotten my order, the tracking says it should be here today (fingers are crossed). Would you leave a bad review about a shop like this when it takes a month to get your order? I ordered my garter the first week in Feb.

Not unless you were unsatisfied with the product. You are still 2 months out, so I would say it arrived in enough time. Sometimes shipping can be super slow and it's not the seller's fault.

When you placed your order did it have anything about production time in the description?

Edit: I must have skipped over the 3-5 days to process and ship - when you track the shipping, does it say when the label was created?

I wouldn't leave a bad review because of delivery. If I was happy about the garter itself and the delivery was the only thing that I didn't like, I would probably give 4 stars and list that as a reason why.

But I would also go back to the store front and reread the items description. A LOT of the vendors I've worked with say (lets say) 3-5 days but they also have a disclaimer about the possibility of things taking longer during busier seasons. I would say this is prime planning season

Also, you have to remember that there has been A LOT of crazy weather going on around the country since the beginning of February. That has a lot to do with shipping

When you look at your tracking number, when does it say the shipping label was created? Was is 3-5 days after ordering? Or was it way later?

If the shipping label was created in the right time frame, then the seller did what they promised and it's the shipping's fault. If it was created like weeks later then that's her fault. If you're happy with the actual product, I would leave like a 3 star rating and note that the shipping is why you gave it a lower rating, not the actual product.

It depends on how you feel. I would leave an honest review, and in that review mention how long it took to arrive. That way if anyone else wants to order from them, and has a time constraint they will know that it might take awhile for the product to arrive.

3-5 days to process and ship, is different than the delivery date. Look at the tracking, what date was the order shipped on? Depending where it is going and where it is coming from, packages can get held up at customs, or in route and it is out of the seller's control. If the tracking shows, that the item was not shipped until just a few days ago (for example), then I would probably leave a mediocre review... indicating that the seller did not send the item out on time. I wouldn't leave a completely bad review unless you are also unsatisfied with the product AND you get poor customer service.

Yes I would. Especially if they never offered an explanation on why the product was late.

However, sometimes they will put shipping delays in the shop announcement and not amend it on their policies so I would look there first.

If no announcement was made I would leave a fair and unemotional review of the transaction process. Be sure to state when the product shipped out, not when it arrived as sometimes they will flag a review if it cites a third party (like the shipping company). For example, if you said it arrived on my doorstep via UPS on 3/5 the seller can flag that review and get it removed. So be sure to state it was shipped out late by the seller, not arrived late.

Hopefully the product is of good quality and was worth the wait.

    Good Luck

If she "shipped" it 3-5 days or reasonably after that by a few days, it's fine. Once it's with UPS, or mail it's out of her control. So if it's just been sitting at a UPS hub (check the tracking, it'll tell you all where it's been) that is not her fault.

If the item was shipped 24-48 hours after you made the purchase with tracking I don't think you should leave a negative feedback. From my own personal experience working in the e-commerce industry USPS estimated shipping is not reliable. Most sellers like to ship with USPS because of the low cost of shipping with the estimated "2-3 days" priority mail shipping. The seller cannot control the shipping delivery time with USPS and if it was shipped out promptly I would give the seller a break.

I wouldnt neccesarily do a bad review, but once you get the product you should give an honest review on whether or not you like the product, if it was what you expected, say that you were disappointed it took 5 weeks instead of 5 days to receive it, that she was hard to get ahold of, and comment on whether or not ou felt it was worth the wait. Based on what you've said and assuming the product is satisfactory (how bad can a garter be?) I would probably give it 3 stars. Its important you give the details and be honest because future brides, with not as much time may order from her and receive it too late. Even with the bad whether, you could walk from the east coast to the west in 5 weeks.

No, do not leave them a bad review based solely on that. Was it 3-5 business days or just 3-5 days in general? Is it being shipped from out of the country? Customs can be a bitch sometimes. There has also been some seriously crappy weather across the country that has hindered delivery speeds. If they sent it with in the allotted time, it is out of their control and they shouldn't be punished for it.

I waited a month to get my custom cake topper, only for it to arrive broken. The vendor is making me a new one at no additional cost. I do not plan on giving him a bad review because he has been more than accommodating. He shipped it two days after I ordered it and provided a tracking number. He did his part.

Although I would love to be able to always point the finger at someone for not receiving a package in time (or at all), it's out of the shop owners hands once they bring it to whoever they chose to deliver the package. As long as they shipped it within 3-5 business days then they did their part and it's out of their control. My issue is with Amazon sending packages to UPS who then gives it to the USPS so it ends up taking 2 weeks to get to me. That just pisses me off.

Looking at when the shipping label was created, which was last Friday I can understand it taking a week to get here (CA to UT) but the fact that it took almost a month to even get that far. I did send the seller an email when I hadn't seen anything and they stated that it would be shipped on Feb 21st, so even with contacting them it took another 7 days to actually ship it. That is not USPS that is the seller. I think that is why I am upset they are running a business (as am I) if you say you are going to ship something on a specific date you probably should do so. I know I am a hard ass about that kind of stuff. I will wait to see what the product looks like.

Ooooooh! So they didn't ship it within their time-frame! Then I'd definitely state that in your review. Exactly how you just said it. That you had to contact them and even after you did that it was still another 7 days before they sent it.

Definitely review, you may have gotten it in enough time, but someone may have a strict time frame, so the shipping delay needs to be noted.

I would wait and see how you like the product but, when you do leave a review, note the timeline and that you didn't appreciate it. It doesn't have to be totally bad but, don't leave it out.

Well, that changes everything. Totally mention that that in the review but don't let it dictate the entire review. If the item is as described and you got it in time for your wedding, what harm has been done (in your case)? But definitely make mention of it while reviewing to give those who order in the future a heads up.

I would definitely mention it in your review. Just try to be very descriptive in date you ordered, date you e-mailed them, and date it was finally shipped. '

I deal with vendors and suppliers/distributors all day long...shit happens and sometimes will be late due to factors outside your control. I'm not trying to say that you shouldn't be pissed off, but its definitely not something to get super worked up over. Your wedding isn't for 2 months so its not like you're in dire need of it right this moment, you just WANT it right now
