Should i plan as if covid won’t be a thing?

So we know covid is stretching into 2021- while the restrictions in NY are 50 max, we could easily invite 150. Our wedding date is for September 2021. Should we plan as if the restrictions will be lifted by that time? Currently looking for venues and giving them count of 50, or should I give my max...

Our wedding is October 2021. We are planning as normal but we have two Covid backup plans in place. We also discussed our options with each vendor and ensured we had everything in writing so that we can adjust as needed.

I wouldn't put money down for more than 50 people. The new leadership may have stricter mandates federal wide this time.

Definitely! It's super tough. Even if we were to push to 2022, who's to say it will be all better then? It's totally hard to plan, so here's to hoping things will get better soon!

That sounds like a solid route, that's great you have that in your contract with your vendors! I think I'll be doing the same

My fiancé and I are from NY and getting married in NJ. We are planning as normal but now that it’s getting a tad closer, I’m getting a tad nervous. We did speak with our venue and they said that they’ve made a outdoor reception area so hopefully we’re able to accommodate the amount of people on our contract.

We went with a lower number on our contract and the venue said we can always add people later one. So I would look into a venue that can have the amount of people you’d like, but put a lower number on the contract.
We’ve also added covid to our contracts with vendors. I’m hoping things will go smoothly with our vendors if we do need to make any changes. So far they’ve all been super communicative and great, but also NEVER know how one is when needing to reschedule or something.
Think right now I’ll continue planning as normal, but keeping a plan B in the back of my mind. I also haven’t sent out save the dates as I wanted a better idea of things so we don’t have to go through updating people once or more if needed. So idk when I’ll send those out (people do know the date by word of mouth but thinking maybe I should send out just in case).
Sorry for the rant hahah...:kinda thinking out loud when typing this lol.

Thanks!! I was thinking of looking into NJ venues since NY venues are super pricey. It sounds like you have a great venue. That’s also the main reason I want to do outdoor, to have a better experience during covid and possible accommodate more guests. It’s smart you haven’t sent out save the dates yet. This past year has been quite hard, and I can only imagine how all brides are feeling this year. It’s so uncertain! Thanks! Haha let’s me know I’m not alone

We’ve been looking upstate and NJ mostly. I hear it’s super expensive in NY so I’m looking in surrounding states

I would plan as if COVID will still be a thing, it’s the only way you will be as prepared as you can be. The moment I started planning this way the more things fell in to place and the less I felt helpless or depressed about this pandemic. Planning for COVID being an issue gives you control. I too am a NY bride and in September we made the decision to downsize to 46. We’ve stacked up on personal sanitizers and just got our personalized guest masks on Thursday. We made socially distance seating charts by households for ceremony and reception and we are currently finalizing safety precautions for hair and makeup and getting ready. I have started to share our plans with some of our guests and I can see the immediate ease it puts them in. Guests want and need us to plan like COVID is an issue. It will give everyone comfort

Thank you for this! I totally agree, and this is the route I’m going to take. I don’t foresee covid dissolving in September, and I don’t want to get my hopes up.
