So my wedding is scheduled for June 20th 20. I live in New York City. The Mayor has cancelled all events for the month of May no word on June yet. I already cancelled our honeymoon to Greece. Which I couldn't get my money back only credit which I hope I can use in the future. Anyway I spoke to my venue they're offering to move it to September 2020 or I can pick a date next year but I'd have to pay an extra $500.00 to do so.

My fiance and I actually planned to move out of state in September. Now we're considering pushing back our move or moving anyway and coming back to visit next year to have our wedding. If I move it to next year I might actually get to have my bachelorette party and bridal shower which were both cancelled. As opposed to trying to have it in September when we don't know what the situation would look like for events.

Any suggestions on what I should do?

This is exactly how I have thought this through. We are now getting married the same weekend as you guys! I'm still a little nervous about the number of people we will be able to have next year though. But I am certainly not as anxious as I would be as a 2020 bride.

Hi! And that's a good idea to ask your bridal party and guests what they would prefer. It would probably make things easier on you! It's a very tough situation and hard decision to make and each state is different so it's harder to tell someone what they should or shouldn't do. I think still getting married on your original date would be a great idea if that what works for you too! Are you all able to do that and maybe invite less than 10 people like just your parents or something to that? Then have a small dinner?

Postpone. My wedding date was also 6-20-20. I postpone everything with all my vendors and moved it to may 29th 2021. If you do decide to do it in Sept, I feel that it is still too soon for people to actually enjoy and have a good time at your wedding. It is unfortunate that the venue is charging you that fee when the change of date is unforeseen and not intentionally. I would probably ask for a refund and not plan of doing it there. Hope you're able to resolve this and find some peace of mind with the planning.

Our wedding is June 20th in Vegas...so it's a destination wedding for everyone. At this point our venue says they will be up and running on May 1st...since the wedding is 2 months away we are hoping it will still go forward...we were planning on about 100, but now it looks like maybe 50...which is fine...I don't really want to move the wedding...but all we can do is wait right now and hope.

We are early August and we're waiting until May to make a decision. Honestly I'm very pessimistic about summer weddings unless you are less than 50. I dont envision a scenario where NYC and surrounding suburbs (we are Long Island) get out of Phase 2. Also, older guests you can probably cross off the list , as well as out of towners. For the money we spend to have a NY wedding, if you can postpone, just do it so that you get everything you want.

I feel like if our wedding goes through it will be rushed and compromised. There are a lot of sit downs and events that take place 2-3 months before the big day. Here in NY it feels like we wont get anywhere near back to normal until maybe July

My suggestion is to talk to all your vendors, as we get closer to June we will have a better idea as to whether the city will remain closed. Find out the latest date you can wait to reschedule so you don’t lose any money. I think if travel is still shut down in June then they should have to refund you for your honeymoon, I would call whoever you dealt with on that when you get closer to those dates as well. Pick a September date talk to all of your vendors to make sure which day they all have available and once we’re in May and they tell start to us if we are allowed out in June, confirm the date with your vendors if you need it, I’d ask if you can put a hold on the date while you sort everything out.

We are also in the same boat. our wedding is scheduled for July 17th 2020 but with all these uncertainties, we are also thinking of moving it to next year.
