Should i trial a spray tan? Will it fade blotchy??

Cara, on January 30, 2018 at 10:20 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 10

I'm thinking of doing a very light spray tan for my wedding April 7th. I was hoping to trial one for my bridal shower in a few weeks. My concern is that the spray tan will fade blotchy and patchy during the end of the month/early March, and that I will still be blotchy and patchy when I get re-sprayed for my wedding. I'm afraid that my wedding spray tan will not be even because of this. I have never spray tanned before so I am not sure how they fade. Can anybody give me insight to how spray tans fade / if I will be okay in April if I trial a spray tan in a few weeks? Thank you for your help.

I will always vote no spray tan, however it is you and your spouse's day. I would never risk a spray tan disaster.

I recommend having a person spray you because they can control the flow and placement of the spray tan. I've tried both methods (shower vs person) and both faded out naturally. But I suggest you try it now because both methods will require trial and error before you find the desired color, consistency and frequency that you like.

I've only spray tanned once in my life (so i can't answer about re-spraying) for a wedding I was MOH at. I had to travel and ended up having to get it before i left, which is apparently way too early (like 5 days before the wedding). Oh man it looked so good the first like 2 days..I've never seen myself so tan! (and it was a light tan, but I'm super pale). But by the time the rehearsal dinner hit it was super splotchy, especially in the elbow-pit areas. Like two huge white patches. Lucky that we were carrying bouquets so it didn't show for ceremony pics, and wasn't noticeable in other pics (for my MOH speech i had the mic in one hand, and my phone in the other, so the arms were folded up).

I just don't think I want to risk it, or any bleed-through on my own wedding day. As MOH i wore a black dress, so it was fine. But I do feel like i had to wear long sleeved shirt and pants to bed the first few nights because of not wanting to stain sheets.

Hopefully others on here are much more knowledgeable than I.

I got a manual spray tan about a month before my wedding to test it. It was too dark for my wedding(I’m fair and wanted a natural looking tan). She re-did it about 10 days before my wedding lighter, and it was perfect for the second trial. It was all faded by the time my wedding rolled around. She suggested getting the spray tan done 2 days before my ceremony, which I did. All of the previous tans had faded and the color was consistent, not patchy, and perfect.

If you've never spray tanned before then you should definitely do a trial. I've only done it once and was manually sprayed. My skin didn't do well with it and I was splotchy from the start. There is simply no way to know how it will look on you until you try it.

I fake tan all the time, and this is the best product I've found for a splotchy fading tan. Its only $10 and lasts forever. A couple of days before your fresh tan, take a 15 minute bath with nothing in the water and use this! It will get rid of all past tan! Also, you will be fine!

I love the spray tan idea BUT that being said, make sure your make up artists plans for that! My best friend got a spray tan and didn't tell her MUA and when it came down to the day they had a MESS trying to get makeup to match her skin tone and blending it to match her neck. Every bit of her makeup was beautiful it was just all thrown off because of the color of the tan.

I am pro spray tan for your wedding- if and only if you get a manual spray tan and you do a test run before your wedding. I’m very fair and wanted a touch of color for my wedding. It came out perfectly day of.

And don’t forget to exfoliate before going!l for your trial. That’ll help in the long run with patchy fading!!! Smiley smile good luck!

Had the same issue. Really splotchy as it faded; looked horrible on legs like that. I did a test spray tan a month before my daughter’s wedding. I am going to exfoliate and moisturize like crazy and try it one more time. If the same reaults, then I will just be day glow white!!
