should I trust amazon?

Spike, on March 6, 2012 at 10:05 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19

So I saw a post tonight and a lady brought her FH's ring on amazon...so I decided to look, not getting my hopes up...

I saw the EXACT ring that my FH picked out, in his size, and same company [tungsten]. In Kay's, that ring was about $330. On the site, it was $18.95...all the reviews was fantastic and all 5 star.

My mind was completely BLOWN.

So he told me to find my ring, and I found the same 1 I picked out at Kay's. In Kay's it was $1,800. On Amazon, it was $205. His mind was blown cause that would be the down payment he would've put down at Kay's.

Should we trust this? cause when I get his size tomorrow...i'm ordering his ring lol

I would order his ring first and if you like it then think about ordering yours. I have ordered several things from amazon and FH loves them and neither of us has been disappointed yet - but then we didn't buy jewelry either. All I can tell you is amazon cares about its reputation. If you pay with PayPal you have a resolution resource through them if you are not happy with what you get.

One other thing - for your ring, I would ask (if you are buying diamonds) if they provide certification by a GIA gemologist.

I haven't ordered rings on Amazon but I order stuff from them all the time, they have super fast and reliable shipping and when a release date or something changes they keep you up to speed and they have incredible customer service. I agree with Linda, order FH's ring, for $20 dollars if it's not EXACTLY what your looking for you might be able to sell it for $20 bucks and buy the real one but I think it'll be pretty close to the description because Amazon is good like that!

I swear by Amazon. I think that it's a wonderful, wonderful thing. Check Amazon's return policy. It's pretty good. Regardless, for those prices, I think that it'd be worth a shot.

Idk what exactly I want yet. I'm a haristylist, and I don't want anything with a huge sticking out diamond. I hate when I have to take my ring off cause i'm more likely to forget it. But I'm trying to find something simple, classic, and beautiful. I picked out a regular silver band first, and he called me plain jane lol he wants something with diamonds for me.

I've had some things that were good through Amazon and some things that didn't work out (I had a humidifier that arrived broken twice) but I have to say that overall, Amazon was good about refunding my money including the shipping after I complained, so I'll say you have nothing to lose. Maybe order his, and see how the quality is, maybe get it appraised and then decide about yours? If you lose $19, it's not nothing, but it's not much in the grand scheme of weddings, and he could always keep it as his "backup" ring if he's travelling or something?

Is it from amazon? Or from a seller on amazon? I order stuff from amazon all the time, and usually don't have a problem. The few times I've had issues they respond quickly and are more than happy to help. I did order a crystal tiara last week (my first piece of jewelry from amazon) that arrived quickly and was very nice, and cheap (about $35). Check the return policies (in case the rings don't fit/you don't like them/whatever) amazon has an easy to work with return system, the sellers through amazon all have different policies. I also have never paid through paypal, and they are excellent about giving refunds (my experience anyway) if you're worried about that Smiley smile Good luck! This sounds like a good deal Smiley smile

Well I'm not sure about amazon because I haven't ordered much from them but, the top two rings are cheaper because they are cubic zirconia not diamonds. If you're ok with that then I would say order it and see if you like it when it comes in, you can always send it back. I got our bands from overstock.com and saved hundreds so that would be another option for you to check out. Good luck!

I'd try researching the actual seller names on Google, see if you get any feedback.

I love amazon. I've ordered a ton of stuff off there, both for the wedding and not, including jewelry. Only issue I ever had was when they sent a wrong item but my money was completely refunded and the sent the correct item.

I love amazon. as far as the tungsten goes i have heard that tungsten rings don't cost $200 but kay/jared/etc charge that because they can. i am going to order FH's tungsten ring on amazon because its way cheaper then any jewelry store. As far as diamonds/etc I would be careful because you may get CZ's when you wanted diamonds. Amazon is very good with returns tho.

I've never been a glitzy glam person...i personally don't know the difference between a cz or diamond. my engagement ring was m first piece of actual jewelry. So I don't care as long as it's simple, classic, and beautiful [and I know that anything he gets I will love =] ]

Amazon is great, and I would totally buy a ring form them. I almost did buy my FH's ring from them, but nothing quite fit what we were looking for so we went to debebians.com. The only think to look at is to make sure your getting diamonds and not cubic zirconium, because I noticed alot of the really cheap rings substituted the diamonds.

I really like the second and third ring that you posted. I'm also considering getting our rings on amazon. I know my FH has bought a lot of stuff through there and has been happy with it. I personally don't care if its a cz either. Id say go for it!

I love Amazon, but I most certainly would never pay $200+ for CZ.

I bought this one off of Amazon for my FH http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005Y02UVS/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details

    This is his "mangagement ring"...

I was skeptical at first as well, but I figured that it wasn't a permanent thing, and at $25 what did I really have to loose.

I am so happy that I did go through Amazon. Not only did I save HUNDREDS of dollars, he loves the ring, it's real titanium, and he's none the wiser that I didn't pay what the jewlery stores wanted for it.
