Hi! My name is Lindsey and I am getting married next November of 2016. I know..it's still a while away, but I'm currently a student, and when school starts again in August I'm not going to have a lot of time to plan whilst completing classes, so I'm planning a little bit at a time. So! I wear glasses on an everyday basis. I have since I was like 13. I CAN see without my glasses. I can see up close, but far away everything looks very blurry. When it comes to wedding day, I never saw myself wearing glasses, and I don't know whether or not I need to for my big day. I don't want to do my makeup and then my glasses cover it all up, but I also don't want to bypass most of my wedding day because I can't see ya know?? I don't know what to do!! I will be getting a new pair of glasses this coming up June, and I have not picked my wedding dress yet..so whatever pair of glasses I get will have to match my dress if I wear them..if I don't wear them can I get like temporary contacts?? Hellppp

I wear both. I cannot see or legally drive without one or the other. I used to be a chronic contact wearer - that person who did not ever take them out. Well now I cannot stand to wear them for more than 8 hours at a time. That being said I will wear them all through the ceremony and pictures but if they bother me later in the night, I will put my glasses on. The only issue with that is that I did not get the really expensive "no reflection" lenses so if a picture is taken of me in my glasses, you get a glare or reflection instead of seeing my eyes. Very annoying but I think I can make it work.

Most people wear disposable soft contacts that are good anywhere from a day to a month. Talk to your eye doc about trying a few out as it is an adjustment period. I wore contacts for 15 years before I got LASIK. Best decision I ever made. Do what you're comfortable with, but you should start now with whatever it is.

Soft contacts don't require you to slowly build up the hours you wear them each day. You can put them in and wear them all day, they don't slip off center unless you put them in backwards. The only issue if you've never worn contacts is that it takes forever to put them in when you're first doing it. Like, a minimum half hour. If you're not used to putting things in your eyes it's a real adjustment so if you're going to do it, I'd get them a couple weeks to a month in advance just so you're used to them. And I'd go for some really good ones, even if it costs you more money. You don't want to be dealing with uncomfortable ones if you go that route. Maybe look into it sooner than later. That way you can try them and get used to them well in advance.

I also think cute glasses frames are awesome Smiley smile But I definitely agree you want to make sure you get low reflection lenses.

There are disposable contacts. I wear monthlies - so I toss them and put in a new pair once a month. There are also 2 weeks or dailies.

You do still have to build up to wearing them a bit. I think it only took me a week or so but I got them as a freshman in high school so it's been over 15 years. But I've always worn soft lenses. Your eyes will just get red and tired and dry. I'd go for a pair of monthlies if I were you, so you can a) adjust and b) get used to cleaning them and taking them in/out. Ask for a high moisture/oxygen brand. I think mine are acuvue oasis with hydraclear, and they are nice.

I'm wearing my glasses because I like the way I look in them better than without, but if you don't envision yourself wearing glasses on your wedding day then I would suggest contact lenses.

Good luck at your appointment. There are so many brands out there, hopefully they find one that is comfortable for you. If not pockets are such a good idea!! I'm going to my first alterations appointment soon and that's definitely on my list!

I am not wearing my glasses for the wedding. My mom is going to keep them for me so if I decide I need them I can put them on. I don't see far away at all and up close can be a struggle sometimes. If it gets to be too much of a bother I can always put my glasses back on.

If cost is an issue for you keep in mind that you don't need to order an entire year's worth of contacts. Contacts come 6 to a box (3 pairs) so if you just want to order one box you can do that. The most common issue that stops people from being able to wear contacts is dry eye so if you don't have any issues with that you will most likely have no problem adjusting to wearing contacts once you practice putting them in and taking them out.

You should definitely look into contacts. You should not go through your wedding day without being able to see and take in the full experience!! But you're right, glasses will hide your makeup a bit and also may not photograph well. You have plenty of time to look into it!

I don't look like myself without glasses so I'm wearing them. Just be sure they're reflection free.

It's a tough call. If you wear glasses on a regular basis, then that's how people expect you to look. I had the same dilemma at my first wedding. I skipped the glasses and I don't feel like I missed a thing. Shortly thereafter, I got my first set of contacts. They took about 2 weeks to get used to and they recommend that you wear them for short periods of time at first. I now have extended wear and wear them for weeks at a time with no problem whatsoever. Give them a try, if it's in the budget, and if they don't work for you, or if they're not in the budget, go without.

I'm having the same problem. I wear glasses all the time. I tried contacts before. They didn't bother me, they were just too much work to put in so early in the morning before work. I have an astigmatism as well so I can't see as clearly with contacts. I don't want to wear glasses at my wedding.

My insurance only pays for one eye exam a year. The eye exam for contacts is different for glasses (so I have been told). I do need new glasses as they are two years old. I don't want to waste my one eye exam a year on a contact eye exam for one day. Does that make sense?

I can see ok without glasses, but I really would rather be able to see. I didn't wear glasses for my engagement pictures.

Mkay..I'm definitely going to get contacts..but I am also going to get a new pair of glasses to match my dress that I don't have yet..lol just in case the contacts dry my eyes out. I've never really liked things going into my eyes but I am going to give them shot just for the hell of it, and hope for the best. I really appreciate everyone's responses Smiley smile I love hearing from other brides!

You can get free disposable contacts if you go to a eye lenses doctor.

I wear glasses every day (and have since I was 8), on wedding day, my photographer said it would be better if I didn't wear glasses for at least the beginning photos, I was fine without my glasses, as long as I wasn't asked to read anything...lol.

I put my glasses on just before cake cutting...

I didn't need glasses until a year ago. My prescription isn't that bad, so I think I could pull off just not wearing my glasses on the wedding day. But I don't want to be squinting, so I think I am going to try out contacts over the summer. The idea of putting something on my eyeball kinda freaks me out, but plenty of people do it everyday, so it can't be that bad. Thanks for the info about the trial pair of contacts, I didn't know this was an option (I am only on my first pair of glasses). FH has worn glasses since he was very young, but he ALWAYS wears transitions. Our photographer practically begged me to get him a pair w/out transitions b/c our wedding is outside and said if you don't they look like they are wearing sunglasses in all the pictures. So I need to get on that for him as well, thank goodness for Zenni.

My mom hates wearing contacts, but she got them for her wedding. I would talk to your eye doctor about your options. Surely there is something they can offer you that won't cost an arm and a leg.

I too wear my glasses all day everyday so I plan to wear them at the wedding. It's not me without them. Everyone is used to seeing me with them.

I am getting married November 2016 as well!! I've worn glasses since I was in 4th grade, and tried wearing contacts years and years ago but my eyes were just too dry, and still are incredibly dry, but I have an appointment with an optometrist this weekend to talk about trying them out again. At first I was ok with wearing glasses to my wedding, but the more I think about it, I really dont like how my glasses make me look in some photos, and I really dont want to have to think about that during photos. However, I may not even be able to wear contacts because of the dryness so we will see! I would say go with what makes you the most comfortable.

Just add on a contact lens exam to your next eye appointment. Once you have a prescription for them you can buy as much or as few as you want. I think you should give them a shot for your big day. But wear them for a couple weeks to get used to them. When you first start wearing contacts you feel like you have a bunch of eyelashes in your eyes but you get used to it fast.
