Should we cancel my shower? 😞

Kristen, on March 14, 2020 at 9:11 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 7
My MOH called me today to let me know that out of the 40 people invited to my shower (one week from today), only 10 have RSVPed yes and 10 have RSVPed no or changed an original yes response to a no response. 20 haven’t RSVPed, with today being the deadline.

She said she’s okay to still host it but wants to know if I am ok with something so small or if I want to attempt to reschedule or cancel entirely.

It’s a very personal decision, but given the state of fear and general insanity you may be happier having a proper shower a few weeks down the line.

The only problem is my wedding isn’t so far away, only 6 weeks, and I’m in a wedding one of those weekends and my bachelorette is one of those so I’d be very limited in available dates

I honeslty feel it's a shower i still wouod move forward with a small crowd bc at the end of the day 10 ppl can still make the crowd feel as if its 20 or more ppl in the room.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with a small shower — mine was small and I saw it as an advantage! Got more time with everyone and really felt I was able to get in quality visits. My small shower made me wish my wedding was smaller! Haha. Plus you may still get more yes rsvps when she follows up...People may be hesitant to commit due to corona virus fears, but in that case — the smaller the gathering the better!

Maybe those 20 people can be followed up with first to get their response before you decide

Thanks everyone! It seems like most people who RSVPed yes still plan to come, so we will probably not cancel. We will have about 15 people including myself and my bridal party, which I’m bummed about, but hopefully it’ll still be fun. It’s been a pretty rough year for me so hopefully there are no impacts on my wedding

Small showers have 2 big pluses: the pace of opening g gifts is slower, no rush, so you can talk with the person whose gift you are opening, and there number of gifts is small enough so you finish while everyone is still interested.
