Should we do late night snacks?

Tina L., on August 31, 2015 at 2:15 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

We're having dinner at 4:30 and was wondering if we should get snack for people later on in the evening like appetizers or subs maybe our venue stops serving alcohol at 11pm and everyone has to be out at midnight...thoughts?

We're having them! Our reception (cocktail hour then dinner and dancing) starts at 6pm and we're gonna have pulled pork biscuits and mini grilled cheeses passed around 10pm to keep the party fueled :-)

It sounds like a good idea. What time were you thinking Tina?

That is a very, very long reception.

We hired a guy with a traditional hot dog cart, Chicago style, to come in and serve hot-dogs at 10pm (our reception ends at midnight). Although I think hot dogs are cliche, like deep dish pizza, for Chicago... I know the many out of town guests will like it.

Yes I think it's a great idea especially since dinner is so early.

I want to do an In-N-Out trailer but our reception isn't really long enough to support having that much food.

We're doing a dozen pizzas around 11:00 (reception ends at midnight). We were going to scrap it for budget reasons, but FFIL was set on having it and offered to pay for it. I love the idea, but if it's not in the budget, I wouldn't worry about it.

I love late night snacks! If you can afford it, then definitely do it!

If it is in your budget, I say you should do it. We are planning chips, popcorn, pretzels - something to absorb alcohol, but not really "food"

We went to a wedding this past weekend, and danced up a storm. I was starving when we left (we were the last people there) and no snacks! It was so sad. We had to stop for food because all of us were really hungry! I will definitely be adding this to my list.

We had a late night buffet (also 11 pm) and most of it was gone before midnight, especially savoury items.

I think that's a great idea! I would be really excited if I were a guest.

If it's in the budget, I say do it because your reception is longer than most. We are doing cocktail hour and apps at six, dinner at 7:30, final dance at 10:15, everyone out by 11 so no snacks for us.

Yes! We are doing a late night snack as well. With the early dinner I think it's important to do order something fun for your guests Smiley smile
