Should We Get a Photo Booth??

I have gone to a wedding with a photo booth, and it was a lot of fun! However, we had one at our wedding (included in the venue so it wasn’t an extra charge) and no one used it. They all took photos with their phones/cameras. Which is fine! So I’m glad we didn’t personally pay for it!

We've gone to weddings that had one, and some without.

One couple DIYd theirs and a lot of the guests used it because they placed it in a spot where you would walk past it and see it. The other wedding hired one and a lot of guests (myself included) didn't use it because it was stuck outside at the corner of the building so no one saw it unless they looked hard.

Most of the weddings we've attended did not have a photo booth and honestly, it wasn't missed.

Guests will take pictures with their phones regardless of whether you have one or not! And with the way social media is nowadays, you can have them tag you in the photos or use your wedding hashtag so you'll be able to see them all.

It also comes down to budget. If your vendor offers it and it's free of charge OR isn't too much of an extra cost, then go for it! We would end up spending $600+ to have one, and we decided it wasn't worth it. If we decide to have on closer to the wedding date, then we'll DIY it!

Photobooths are fine and lots of people really love them. But I seriously can't imagine anyone going to a wedding without and complaining (or even noticing) that there isn't one. I have been to weddings with and without (many more without).

Side note: I don't really understand how they became such a default that people are worried that their wedding will be somehow lacking without one.

We've never been to a wedding that had one. Never missed it or cared that there wasn't one.

I have been to weddings without them, but I think photo booths are a lot of fun. We had one and literally every guest used it at least once. Ourselves also came with a book so guests could include one of copies they received in the book with a message to us. We also have access to every photo in an online gallery.

Yea that would be pretty dumb to have someone complain about not having a photo booth. Personally, I don't think our wedding would lack but after reading previous comments, there's a good chance that it won't be used a lot, if at all so I guess I'm ok with not having one.

Thanks! I was so excited to have one because it looks amazing! Now that we're pricing everything out, I guess it's really not all that worth it UNLESS of course it was more affordable.

View Quoted Comment There are cheaper alternatives. We are having a photo guest book with small envelopes lining each page and a polaroid so guests can take a photo, slip it in the envelope, close it and then sign it. We will have extra rolls for guests to take photos to go, too.

I had a photo booth at my reception and everyone loved it. They had a blast and I love looking at the photos after. I also have attended a wedding where they didn't have one and we kind of sat there awkwardly waiting for dinner and other things to end to get up and dance. It was good thing to "waste time" while we were waiting for the food to be cleaned up.

It was a surprise to us that it came with a book. Personally, I recommend photo booths as I've always enjoyed them at weddings. It also gives your guests that might not enjoy dancing something else they can do.
