Shoulder necklace?

Has anyone ever worn a shoulder necklace for their wedding? What do you all think? Too much? Fun? Elegant? Weird?

IMO, unless your dress is very plain, this is too much. This is going to take all attention away from the detail of your dress.

My Blush by Hayley Paige dress is very very simple and it actually came with something like this. It wasn't my style but when I saw it on other brides, I thought it was so pretty and so unique.

If your dress is strapless and simple enough to support this, I totally recommend.

I love the look of shoulder necklaces! My advice is biased because I tend to gravitate towards more dramatic aesthetics. If your contemplating one, go for it!

Just make sure to balance it with your dress. For example, if you have a dress with lots of detail/lace go for a more delicate shoulder necklace - picture #1. If your dress is rather plain (like a simple white satin dress without any beading or lace) go as bold as you want like pictures #2 and #3.

I've never even heard of this.

It's cool, but it may take away from the dress.

I've always loved the look of shoulder necklaces! It really depends on your dress though cause you don't want it to be too much. My dress has an illusion neckline so I can't wear one as much as I love them

I've only seen one of these worn once, in a distant friend's wedding pics on FB. It looked very cute on her, she styled it well. I think with a very simple dress and simple hair it can look cute and etherial. What does your dress look like?

Of the three pics you shared #2 is my fav, I like that it has the shape of a shawl rather than a necklace.

I have never seen this before, but I think it's very pretty & would totally give some bling to a more simple dress as PP's have stated. I like #3 the best, but they are all so pretty.

I think its gorgeous! However, it may prove to be a bit trendy, so if I was going for something like this, I would make sure to have some portraits taken without it as well if you look back on it 30 years from now and feel differently about it.

I’ve never seen this before. It doesn’t look comfortable to me, but to each their own

I'd never seen styles like that until recently here on WW. If your dress is strapless and relatively simple, I think it's a beautiful (and unique!) way to dress it up!

Oh my goodness, I had no idea that this was a thing. This is exactly what I've been trying to look for. I think they're all lovely, but you do want to consider the detailing of your dress and try not to overshadow it with the accessories.

So this is my dress. Think it would work? Tempted to order one necklace near my first fitting to try on and see how it looks.

I have never heard of this but lover, love, love the idea! Try with your dress and if it works for you i think they are unique and beautiful. If I had know of such, perhaps I would have opted for a bare shoulders dress just to be able to wear one.

I really love the look, it's unique and gorgeous on the right dress. The only con, other than balancing with your dress, is that sometimes they may get in the way of hugging family and friends and you don't want to be fussing with your jewelry on your wedding day. Would you wear it for just the ceremony? Or for the reception too? Maybe purchase a less expensive one to wear around the house for a day and to pick up your arms, hug your fh, see if it bugs you or if you would have to readjust.

I love these, but I don’t think it’d go with my dress. I think it’d look great with yours though.

I have been trying to decide if I want a backdrop necklace, since I have a pretty open back to my dress.

I agree that it will work on a very minimal white dress - one that has no other embellishment or fancy details. In that case, it'll be gorgeous!

IMO, I think shoulder necklaces work best with Boho style dresses or super simple form fitting gowns. Seeing the dress you have, I don't think a shoulder necklace would work well, it would just distract from your gown. It looks like there's already an embellishment on the left side of your gown, so adding more will just be too distracting.
