Show me your casual dinnerware

KDS, on November 18, 2015 at 7:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

We currently have a variety of plates/bowls/mugs from the thrift store and garage sales. They are actually decent quality, but don't match at all.

I have finally convinced DH that we should register for dinnerware, but turns out we have way different taste. I want something white or neutral and he wants something with lots of color. We have all white cabinets with glass doors up high, so I understand his desire for color.

His top pick is the Noritake Colorwave set (pic), but I'm not convinced.

Please share your favorites.

We love our denby duets sage and paprika set. It's super well made and durable. It also comes in a blue and white from BB&B

I LOVE our kate spade dinnerware (it's the Charlotte Street East collection). It's really pretty and light, and it doesn't get too hot in the microwave. The matching serving platters and bowls are really nice, too. I have to admit, I take much more pleasure in having a proper dinner set than I ever thought I would!

We are registered for Noritake colorwave because it seems like a nice upgrade from our IKEA dishes and had lots of great reviews!

We've got 5 different colors of Fiestaware. People LOVED buying it for us as we got a complete set (10 place settings in 5 different colors) and it was the first thing people bought off our registry. I love our Fiestaware!

We're registered for 12 sets of Fiestaware, all in different colors. We did not register for fine china and will use the fiesta for guests, so we registered for white serveware to match. (Oddly enough, all 12 of the place settings have already been purchased off the registry!)

We got the Graeden set from Crate&Barrel. We didn't get the coffee mugs though. Just the plates and bowls. We've been using them since March and I still love them.

I'm a klutz so it's Corelle all the way! We have white ones with a gray and red swirl on them. I didn't think I would like them but DH was picky on plates so I let him have ones he liked. Now I like them more. And I love the shape and size, too. That was a surprise since they are square and slightly raised on the edges.

I love my current dinnerware that I already have. It is Rachael Ray and only a couple years old - bright colors. So - I think I'm going to register for white dishes from Crate & Barrel.

Fiestaware FTW! I like it because you can continue to add colors and pieces down the road and you don't have to worry about it being discontinued.

We got Fitz & Floyd Nevaeh place settings and Lennox Park City silverware and serving dishes. The F&F is plain white (which I was adamant about). I figured with plain place settings, we could always swap out the serving pieces to get different looks without having to replace everything.

I love Fiestaware but it's so heavy. The dishes I had before the wedding were big, heavy stoneware and they were a pain in the ass to fit in the dishwasher and took up a ton of space in the cabinet.

I agree, fiesta wear is heavy and the pieces don't stack well so they take up all your damn cabinet space. Definitely something to consider however I still love it.

@DancingBearBride- I love those & so want them lol

Have you tried going to look at Bed Bath & beyond or anywhere to see it in person? I would check out a few places in person & see if that helps narrow down anything Smiley smile

No idea what we'll register for yet, but my parents have fiesta plates, bowls, etc. They're very colorful, but simple if you decide to go with color.

ETA: I see I'm late to the fiesta train

I love Fiestaware, but FH and I could not agree on colors. Actually, it was just him. He hated them all. I wanted to get a second set of Pfaltzgraff dishes because that is what my parents got at their wedding, and 37 years later the whole set still looks great and is still available to purchase any broken or missing pieces.

Ours is Filigree, the white with textured rim, and I also registered for a set of Winterberry to use in November and December.

I am sorry the pictures are huge! I'm not sure how that happened.

I originally wanted Fiesta Ware and even had it on our registry. Then decided against it and FH and I agreed on Noritake Colorwave in the Teal and charcoal colors.

Corelle! That's what my mom has always had and I couldn't imagine using anything else. We are registering for white and black ones so that they will match everything else. All of our pots and pans are orange, so I don't want it to be super busy.

Corelle is durable and affordable and come in amazing patterns! That's what we have now (I've owned my set for almost 10 years.) But like @FutureMrsT, we registered for Kate Spade also (ours is Union Street.) The first sets were delivered yesterday and we (mostly I) are super excited to use them!
